So we're getting a laptop to replace the one I have to give back to work. It'd be about $400-$600 more to get an Mac instead of a Dell. Mr. C thinks it's not worth the money. He also thinks it's too difficult to have a desktop PC and laptop Mac, and that sending files between the two will be a nightmare

I can tell you though that I live with people who own a PC, and we don't seem to have much trouble sharing files. I think it depends what sort of files you are going to want to share. For us it is mostly mp3, avi files etc., which are compatible with both, no problems. The only times we run into problesm is with stuff I don't have software for, like Word, Excel etc. You can get that stuff for Mac of course, but it didn't come with the basic OSX package, so I guess you'd be looking at even more expense if you want to get those kinds of software.
Umm, don't suppose that was very useful...

Food for thought.
Also, your icon is mesmerizing. Yummy!

It crashes occasionally and requires a restart, but has never needed to go to the doctor. The CD burner has stopped working, but I have not bothered to get it fixed. And it's a second hand machine, so I am not concerned by it.
I know they don't get viruses, right?
I don't know if this is the case or not, but mine has been fine so far. I've had it since Christmas 2005.
I'm the master of the right-click, which doesn't exist for Macs
Not so. I have a right-click mouse, which is perfectly compatible. It came with the computer, the brand is 'Kensington' which I have never heard of. But it shouldn't be hard to find something that suits you if you ask the dealer. It attaches by USB port, like most Mac stuff, so I guess it can be used on mac and PC.

Oh well, a shiny new laptop that is all yours is so not to be sniffed at! I can totally share your joy, this is the first computer I've ever had that was all mine too. It was so exciting, setting everything up exactly how I wanted it.
