Beans glisten with oil,
fragrence delights nose - heaven.

For book club this month, we read "The History of Love," by Nicole Krauss. It's one of the best books I've read all year. I read it one night. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down, and once I finished it, I wanted to start it again almost immediately. It's stayed with me for days. It's a fast read, and beautifully written. It's structurally intersting.
I'd tell you what it's about, but the best I could come up with is that there's a Holocaust survivor at the end of his life, and a teenager just starting hers, but that wouldn't even come close to describing what it's actually about. It's about love and loss and the impact of that loss, I guess. It's also often laugh out loud funny.
There's so much in it that last night at book club, we discussed it for hours and still didn't get to everything.
So go read it. And then please let me know what you think.
