Hmmm...

So don't know if you remember or not, but I made knit hats for the boys and I plan to give them to Jared on Sunday. But I've begun to have doubts about the suitablity of the hat that I've made for Jared. The one I've made for Jensen is perfect and if I weren't giving it to him, I'd keep and wear it myself. But Jared's... It's a bit heavy and more uneven than I'd like. The yarn that I used for the majority of it is poorly spun because it's some of the first yarn I ever spun... and really, it's just not so good. So I'm thinking of quickly knitting up another one and giving him it instead.

I've gone through my yarn stash and I've got few options, but I'm thinking it'll be either something that's dark green (not quite forest green, but close, and very slightly more blue than forest green, but not at all a dark teal) and dark blue (but not quite navy, more like the exact color of the ocean at a distance on a clear, sunny day), or one or the other perhaps... It's all the handspun yarn that I've got on hand that isn't undeniably "girly", but is still soft enough not to itch his forehead or the back of his neck, and of which I also have enough to make a 3 ounce hat... I have enough time yet to do it, especially since I don't have to spin or dye anything, if I start in the next few hours, or at least by tomorrow morning...

What do y'all think?

Poll

ETA 09/25: Well, the poll is closed now. Thank you all so much for your imput! Jared's hat is also finished as of about an hour ago and is now soaking in the bathroom sink. I just hope that now that it's been washed, soaked, rinsed and treated with peroxide about a dozen times in the last hour, the dry crocking will be seriously reduced from what it was. I got indigo all over my hands while knitting furiously today. Luckily, it's natural and not synthetic indigo, so it washes off skin pretty easily with soap and warm water. So, should Jared's forehead get stained by the hat when he gets all sweaty, he won't have to scrub too much to make the blue go away. Yeah, I think about these things too much probably. If it seems not to have improved once it's dry tomorrow, I still have time to knit yet another hat and enough yarn that's not indigo dyed that can be strategically placed to do it (I think), now that I've found just a little brownish-gray lambs' wool/alpaca that I had forgotten I had spun. I'll post pictures as soon as I can.
