Through fanfic, I'm learning to love Quinn. I'm happy you did the expected here - with Finn - but that you wrote Brittany and Mercedes - the unexpected - as well. Looking forward to parts II and III - and beyond?

thank you so much. i'm so glad you're enjoying it. i don't read a lot of fanfic, but i'm starting to like canon quinn. she's softening, or at least less overtly nasty, and becoming more sympathetic.

finn was a strategic start: quinn receives help from someone she knows before the unexpected make an appearance.

Okay so thoughts:

Finn - OH MY GOD!
For the first time in six weeks [the nausea] has nothing to do with morning sickness. - AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... This line is so perfect. I love that Finn totally pummeled Puck. I love that she doesn't just go straight back to Puck. She tries to make it on her own. I love that Finn doesn't take the blanket back because when you give a gift you do give it with an open heart. *sigh* So sweet.

Brittany - She never gets attention like this. I can totally see her on project runway - or like on So You Think You Can Dance, or something. She's got dreams. I love how real you made her. And how humbled Quinn was that she was the first person to wear Brittany's designs.

because she's sixteen and pregnant and alone? this kind of character screams at me to be fleshed out and given a voice. she's kind of marginalized on the show, so this was my opportunity to figure out who she really is.

This is just beautiful. I don't think I can wait for the rest of it. Post now please????? Please?

Honestly, I feel your pain. I've been wanting to write F/R since I started watching the show (which, between you and I was only four weeks ago). I've tried and tried, but the only thing I could write (until yesterday) was Puck/Rachel. For some of the same reasons you've posted here. I just think that Puck deserves more than what he's getting from Quinn. He's been the number two guy - the sidekick/best friend - he deserves to get the girl for once.

Anyway, really, I'm quite a picky reader, and this was just too good not to comment on. I appreciate you writing it, so the least I can do is tell you why. :)

This was really good! I'm always impressed when authors can make me like second-person POV, and I really felt for Quinn. It was interesting to see her interacting with Brittany and Mercedes, and I liked how you characterized Finn, with keeping her secret and letting her keep the baby blanket (which made me tear up).

thank you so much! and i'm so glad that you're enjoying the second person pov. it's a tough sell, but as so much of my fic takes place in a character's head, it makes more sense to literally give them a voice.

the britney and finn sections were a good open, but mercedes is kind of the crux of the story, the theme that will be expanded as the fic progresses: how the people quinn least expects to help are the ones that risk themselves to keep her going.

This was great; I like Quinn, in spite of having absolutely every reason not to, and this fic really captured a lot of why. She has the potential for a lot of growth and you see a lot of the glimmers of it here.

I love the whole idea behind the Brittany one; she does seem to be the softer of the two other Cheerios, what with hanging out with Kurt and everything.

thank you. i think her final scene in "acafellas" was a big moment for all of us because she finally showed that glimmer of humanity we thought was lurking under that ice queen surface. in some ways it's an easy road i took because pregnancy is a natural outlet for growth, but doesn't change that even without it there's always room to grow.

isn't it though? he might not be a rocket scientist, but it's hard to argue that he's not a really good person.
