Ha! "Sweep me again, and make it good!". I felt like I was actually achieving something by having them done. One was done by a midwife I know very well and she was IMMENSELY heavy handed. Didn't work, although he was born two and a half days later. Did they mention how ripe or dilated you were?
Don't blame you. If it helps, laughing hysterically made my waters break.
Yes I told the woman to "GO for it" through somewhat gritted teeth! And go for it she did! I'd never met the woman either, which was odd... hello how do? Now put your hands up my chuff and cop a feel..
I am 4cm dilated and my cervix is "favourable". Although clearly bloody not that bleeding bloody favourable.
My waters have never broken... (well, in all 2 of my pregnancies!) They thought they had with Mirabelle but it was some sort of lie. I'd like them to go independently, with Bee I birthed the waters first (I'll never forget Jim's excited "I can see the babies head" and the MW saying "erm, no that's her waters") and with Mirabelle the MW popped them for me. I need to find something hilarious, strangely I'm not finding things very funny at the moment ;)
My cervix was lovely and favourable from 40w. God knows how long it had been favourably sitting there before then, but it was still four full days and two sweeps before my waters did the right thing and poured forth. It feels like you've done an involuntary wee, but more so. Perhaps all this gripeyness will lead to a faster labour, it did with me and my organs had never done it before.
I was watching Part Troll by Bill Bailey. I recommend, they went when he was describing the pale guardians of the argos portal, with it's laminated book of dreams.
Out you come little one.

No signs of any baby, which is beginning to grate just a little.
