so today during lit themes, i was very much not working, i wanted to write a poem, and since i had the line from rascal flatt's song stand (see the title), i wrote this. its kinda sad, and i may add stuff in the middle, after the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, or maybe just one more stanza, not sure. idunno. feedback is appreciated!
Candles
Three candles in three places.
Two quite short, one still tall.
The flames that once were bright
Have now begun to fall.
The flame of the first was weak,
But burned without a doubt.
Until a dark wind came
And blew that candle out.
The second, shortest of all,
Once had the strongest light.
Then came a steady breeze,
It's almost out of sight.
The tall candle is most sad,
Not quite bright, not yet dark.
Since tiny gusts prey on it,
Never more than a spark.
Three candles in three places
One gone out, one quite dim.
One forever fighting,
I pray that she will win.
(and yes, i realize that last line doesnt rhyme. i realized that like now. but i like it a lot, so its staying unrhymed.)
again, feedback is welcome!
