Hi-ho everyone! I think I forgot this thing was here for a while. hehe Sorry for everyone who is following along. Things get so hectic down here from time to time. But today, I have time for me, so let's update!
Halloween is officially over, as is Mickey's Boo to You Parade. Looking back, BTY was one of the best experiences I've had at Disney. I miss the rehearsal process and learning choreography. The early morning rehearsals in the heat weren't exactly appealing, but the dancing was a blast. I'm not complaining about my parade experience. I subbed in one night and had a chance to do choreography and yes, it was a workout, but it was so much fun!! Part of me regrets not using my other request. I had five roles in the parade, three of which required choreography, and I did two of the five. I'm not upset. I'm happy that I requested and proved to myself that I actually can do harder choreography. It made me proud and I'm hoping I can carry that into more rehearsals. (Oh, please!)
And now, a few playful memories of the parade from some of my closest friends...
Last night was the last night of the parade and it was bittersweet for lots of reasons. My friend Brandon (the green cowboy in Dale's pictures) twisted his ankle during the first parade last night and couldn't do the last one. It was very upsetting for all of us, but he's getting his ankle checked out this morning and hopefully it's nothing serious.

It's hard to believe that the Christmas parties are starting in six days. Most of my good friends down here are all busy with overnight rehearsals for the parade and the castle show. At least half the cast of Halloween is now doing Christmas. While I'm still a little upset that I won't be a part of the festivities this year, I'm excited for plenty of new things coming my way. I have missed doing sets and I'm looking forward to them. And hopefully since I'm not doing Christmas, the season won't be dragged out too much. I love Halloween, but celebrating it for two months is a little overkill for me.
I have plenty of great things to look forward to. Chip and Dale and I are going to the campfire tonight at Fort Wilderness, which I'm really excited about. I now teach at three schools a week, so I get to meet my new class on Wednesday. And Friday is the Lady of the Lakes Ren Faire with Rebecca, Nicole, and Marcia. I'm really excited because I'm borrowing my friend's corset for my pirate wench costume and was able to buy these amazing gold hoops at the Halloween store's closeout sale.
Plus, auditions for "Into the Woods" are right around the corner. I have enjoyed this month off of not doing a show. It's been great to be able to fully focus on work and now I feel like I can take the commitment of another show. Clara and I are practicing my song, which has been really helping. My fingers are crossed to make it in the show...and hopefully with a good role. I can't help but wonder if I didn't get Christmas so I could fully dedicate myself to "Woods." Here's hoping!
Also, I have an "in" for teching now. I helped Rob with some design elements for his high school's production of "The Phantom of the Opera," and now he wants me to help him with another STAGE musical that is currently in production. The guy directing that musical is also going to head up "The Wedding Singer" in a few months. Rob wants me to help him design flats for the other musical and is hoping that I'll get to know the director in the process, which could help when auditions for "Wedding Singer" come around.
As you can see, lots to do!! As long as I can maintain my sanity, I'm good to go!
One of my favorite quotes of all time was when I was in college. A school superintendent came to talk to my class. When we asked him about the trying days at school, he replied, "I always have a good day. Some are just better than others."
Peace & love,
Nikki
