More of the adventures of my Ohio vacation!!
Sunday -- We drove to my Uncle Eddie's house and spent the next hour babysitting my little second cousins, Danny and Joey. I hadn't seen Joey before and he was so precious. My mom was helping him shoot baskets. Danny was a riot, running around the basement singing "Cleveland Rocks!" I went out to Benihana's for lunch with my family and my dad's side. We celebrated my uncle's birthday and had a great meal. (I swear, I'm going to have put on 20 pounds by the time I get back to Orlando.) I went grocery shopping with my mom before heading to Norwalk to see Cassandra and Jes. We ordered pizza and spent the night catching up and playing with Cass' cat.
Monday (today) -- The three of us left Norwalk around 9 and we got to Heidelberg right around 10, our lovely alma mater. Cassandra went to go interview the professor and Jes and I started wandering. We met up with Amy, our geology professor, and joined her for lunch in Rock Creek, chatting about the campus, theatre, and our jobs. Shortly after, Jes ran off to go see other professors and I got to spend time with Brian and Dave, my little brothers/sons in my fraternity. It was so great to see them. We've always been pretty close. On my way to the Education Center, I ran into more of my frat brothers -- Frank, Brent, and Greg. Also saw Emily again. I didn't get to talk to Dr. Grine, but I did say hi to her briefly.
I headed over to Founders and got to see Irene, the communications/theatre secretary. I successfully broke into Gundlach Theatre and took a little walking tour. I was happy I got to go in there alone...Gundlach was always pretty sacred to me. It was a home and a haven for so many years. I met back up with Cass and Jes and we were invited to sit in on a faculty meeting presented by the new president about proposed changes to the campus in the next ten years. We spoke to our English professor and ran back to Rock Creek to see more people before leaving. I got to talk to Dennis (another frat brother) and Chris.
On our way out of Tiffin, we stopped by the Ritz Theatre to say hi to John, our tech director. I was so happy to see the Ritz. I got to walk backstage, through the seats and hop on stage for a bit. The Ritz is the closest I've ever been to a Playhouse Square theatre and there's a lot of memories there. We also got to see our friend Seth before leaving. He was doing musical rehearsals with one of the local high schools. Before leaving Tiffin, the girls and I stopped at Reino's, the best (only) Italian food in town.
By the time I got home, it was 9, so it's been family time all night. My brother's closet collapsed, so I helped my family clean up the mess and rehang the clothes. My mom and I flipped out DVDs and then all four of us watched the Three Stooges together. It was the perfect way to end the vacation.
So right now I'm listening to the killer thunderstorm outside, thinking back about the vacation. It was really nice and I think the time worked out really well. I'm hoping my mom and I will get to go shopping tomorrow because I know she really wanted to do that. But it's been a nice visit. I feel like I visited just about everyone I wanted to see and I was happy I got to see so many people in such a short amount of time.
But I'm really looking forward to my flight home tomorrow. Two more hours of free wi-fi and I'll probably bring a book with me. The flight doesn't leave until 5:30, so we're going to try to grab some lunch and (hopefully) do the shopping she wanted to do. Cole's picking me up from the airport tomorrow and I can't wait. Haven't seen him in a week.
Much love!
