The things Sara gets up to while on a 28 hour train trip in India.

Okay, so the train ride was halfway through our India trip, but the memory of it will probably always stick, and I also don't have any photos for it, and I can't be bothered resizing them, uploading them onto photobucket and then remembering the html to put them onto lj.

To start off with the train was like 3 hours late. We waited for a while in the first class waiting room (no one seemed to mind even though we had 2nd class tickets) but we were supposed to sign a book and when dad discovered we weren't supposed to be there we left. There were broken (still comfy) couches and rats in that room. We moved to the other waiting room which had no rats and couches, but mozzies and more guys who seemed to enjoy staring at me.

Eventually the train came and we got on, found our seats, and discovered that, funnily enough, there were MORE guys who enjoyed staring at me (and the others, but they seemed to find a young, white woman strangely fascinating). But this is where it actually gets a bit interesting. There was one guy who was actually kinda good looking. We ended up having eye sex (as Cilla would put it) practically the whole trip. I did manage to get a bit of sleep in there somewhere, but it was kinda difficult considering it was cramped and there was a symphony of snoring going on. We never really spoke (I don't think he can speak english, and considering I don't know hindi it did kinda pose a bit of a problem), but we did mouth 'hi' and 'bye' to each other.

At times I would have moved so he couldn't see my face (coz I was actually reading a book) and he would move too, so that he could once again look at me. I thought that was really cute. Then I found out that he smokes (or carries around a pack of cigarettes for the sake of it) and got pissed off at me. I tried to ignore him then but, far out, when you're on a train and have nothing better to do than flirt with a guy it doesn't seem to matter too much that he's a smoker.

Mum was the only one who actually seemed to notice what went on between us, and it took her quite a while. That was kinda funny.

Anyways, just before the train was about to stop he actually seemed quite sad. I wanted to kidnap him. I got off first, and we were standing around waiting for the driver who was supposed to meet us there. Then I saw train guy and he gave me a huge grin. I've never been particularly attracted to Indian men, but this guy was definitely an exception.
