So I got my car back, they had to replace 114 parts! I don’t get how the insurance corporation cannot see that as a write off grumble grumble. It’s been snowing since I got it back which hasn’t given me the warm fuzzies about driving it.
Speaking of snow we got about 3 feet of it at home between Saturday night and Monday morning. There is more on the way for today then it is supposed to rain - YAY for rain - I never thought I would say that! It’s terrible living in a place that is so unequipped for snow.
I didn’t even try to venture to work on Monday, perhaps cause I was stuck in the driveway. We got a lot done around the house, got it all cleaned, got all the laundry done, got my Christmas presents wrapped, got our decorations / tree up, worked on my Christmas cards. Not to mention my sister bought a Beer & Wine making place in September and all the recipes for the brews are a mess so I retyped all the Hot Water start recipes.
We lost our cable due to the weather, our line was hanging 6 feet above the ground - I was calling the cable company to get them to come & fix it on Sunday but I listened to the neighbours and called the phone company instead - that was great fun trying to explain to them that no I don’t have a land line but that yes I wanted them to come out & fix it, if it was a phone line who cares I don’t use their service but I didn’t want to see anyone get hurt.
Sure enough it takes the phone company 30 hours to get out to us & they leave me a voicemail saying it was the cable companies wire, while I am on hold with the cable company I hear a loud bang - sure enough someone with a camper on their truck drove by & ripped out our cable. It was great fun - the cable company came by yesterday & tightened all of our wires - power, phone & cable which was nice of them. I felt like I was in the dark ages with no internet or television - what the hell would I do if the power went out lol.
I need to refocus on Wedding plans - I am at a spot where things have become difficult and I need to make decisions so I am totally procrastinating. Here’s the dilemma:
1. I have found a caterer who will feed everyone, bring linens, plates, cutlery, glasses & clean everything up for $34 a person (this includes tip and taxes) x 93 people = $3160. This leaves me bartender-less she’ll do it for $23 an hr = @ $165 so a total of @ $3400 and I will need to provide mix, booze & ice.
2. I have found another caterer who will feed everyone, bring plates, cutlery & clean everything up this guy also provides desert and a midnight lunch for $24 a person x 93 = $2232. I would still be bartender-less but have found someone who can do it for $450 who will provide glasses, mix & ice. Oh and the linens he only provides for the buffet table so that’s an additional $300 for a total of @ $2982
3. I have an acquaintance who is a bartender who said she’ll do the bar for free but I wonder what would happen if she couldn’t get the night off work, oh and she was nice enough to offer to pick up all the ice, booze & mix so I won’t have to worry about having to pick it all up the week of
This brings me to my next dilemma:
My Sister & Brother in law have bought a beer & wine making store so we (and by we I mean she) are going to make all of the beer, wine and cider. Is this sufficient enough to offer at the wedding? Do we need to have hard alcohol? I personally and not a fan of beer or wine. My mom said it is ok for me to bring whatever I would like to the wedding - is that odd? As a guest would you feel left out or even notice?
I think that option 1 is the best bet even though it costs more & you get less it seems the easiest as I don’t want to run around like a chicken with my head chopped off on my wedding day, nor do I want Mark or our bridal parties to.
The only other thing I am thinking is e-mailing mine & Mark’s families to let them know the dilemma and ask if they will commit to helping the day of - that would give us 15 people helping if we got there at 10am I can see it all being done by 11 at the latest giving everyone 5 hrs before the ceremony starts.
I was talking with my maid of honour last night & she said that she’d help and I wouldn’t have to but really I don’t want to be sitting at the hotel by myself before the wedding that’s when I want her and my other 2 bridesmaids with me.
AHHHHH ok I am rambling - I wasn’t even going to update - If ANYONE has ANY suggestions on how to make this all easier I would love to hear from you.
Take Care,
Stacey
