Well, we're back from Georgia.
Pretty sweet trip, finished ranked 7th, captained the 5th alliance, but due to my screw ups lost in the QFs. During the 2nd QF match, the tread ripped off, which forced us to E-Stop early in the match (metal on carpet contact resulting in field damage would get us DQed). We then had to use our time-out in order to repair the tread. I used it a bit too early, and I think they started the counter on it early. We overran it by about a minute, but we had forgotten to plug the drive motors back in (we had to remove them to test the battery while I was still fixing the tread), so we basically didn't do anything in our 3rd match, causing us to lose the in the QFs. 1369 and 1139 were great partners though.
On friday we won the Radio Shack Innovation in Control and Wherley won the Woodie Flowers Finalist award (giving us to candidates for WFA at Championship this year!). We lost our first Regional Animation Award in the last 6 regionals it has been entered at, congratulations 1414. Additionally the judges told us that we basically tied for Engineering Inspiration (FIRSTs 2nd highest honor), but they gave it to 1102 because they were from a more rural area. 1002 took home their 3rd straight Chairmans.
Vex kicked some serious butt too. 2nd seed, captained the 2nd alliance all the way to the finals. #1 ranked in the autonomous game. Lost in 3 matches in the finals. Also won the Amaze award (basically teh FRC Judges Award) for their control simulation rig and having a back-up robot. Team 4, 80, and 197(?) won the FVC finals. Team 80 is 1002's VEX team, and they would also win the Vex Challenge award (the FVC Chairmans), giving 1002 both of the highest honors of the regional competition.
