My journal is kind of too touchy-feely. Sorry to anyone who can't manage to read any entries due to that fact. I promised pictures, and they will be coming soon. I guess right now you'll get a text version of my weekend:
Saturday
Maya and I went over to Tufts Med early afternoon to wait for Louise and Kristine to say they had arrived from New York. We met them at South Station, and the 4 of us were finally all together again (I miss those days at UCLA). There wasn't too much time between then and having to go back to get ready to go out...so we made a quick stop to Mike's Pastry in the North End so that Kristine could get her cannolis, then back to the apartment.
We have no cable-so we ended up watching figure skating for a bit...yeah it was random. Then everyone ran around the apartment trying to get pretty. We had 3 straightening irons plugged in various places around my room, and everyone taking turns trying to get a hold of one of the 3 mirrors to do makeup. Then right on time (amazingly enough) we headed over to Tantric for Maya's birthday dinner.
Maya's friends showed up, as did Mike who had opted for dinner rather than clubbing later. We had a lot of yummy Indian food-Kris, Louise, and myself wanted to keel over we were so stuffed. Then we headed to Southie to the apartment of one of Maya's friends for a little bit, then Maya went home and the other 3 of us headed to Liquor Store.
FYI that place is insanely popular, if you ever decide to go, get there early. I had several friends who gave up while waiting in line...I got there after 10 and it took a while to get in. If you arrive after 11, good luck to you. It was a lot of fun, thank you to everyone who went. Yes, I was eventually forced to ride the mechanical bull-and I was told I did surprisingly well. And to the relief of the girls, and the disappointment of the boys, I succeeded in keeping my top up and did not flash anyone. The only low points of the night was this one guy who I danced with proceeded to hover for quite a while after I decided I was over him...and when I was taking my camera out of my purse my phone fell out and a piece of it proceeded to break off. It still works, looks ghetto, but still works. I again made the mistake of leaving after closing so that it was kind of hard to find a cab. When we were outside waiting, it started snowing! Thankfully, it was that light, powdery, pretty snow so it was more comical than annoying trying to catch a cab in the snow. We eventually made it back to my place and stayed up talking for a bit until we finally passed out somewhere around 4am.
Sunday
After Maya came back from her 14 mile marathon practice run, we got dressed, Kris and Louise packed up their stuff and we went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch. After that we had to take the 2 of them back to South Station and say goodbye. It was sad, I miss them sooo much, but luckily Maya and I are planning to go to NY in a couple of weeks. Then Maya and I headed back to the apartment. She napped, I showered, and then both of us made feeble attempts to do work before giving up and going to bed.
The written version of my weekend sounds a lot less interesting than it really was. Thank you to everyone who called/facebooked/myspaced/txt msged/imed etc happy birthday, and especially thank you to everyone who made it out Saturday night. It was a great birthday, and I'm glad I got to share it with all of you. Life would not be complete without a little bit of drama, so I will have to say I'm angry at a certain person who did not wish me a happy birthday. I've given him time and space to approach me, and I figured that he'd at least man up and say something on my birthday. Guess he's more of a little boy than I took him to be. Oh well, the positive of the weekend definitely outweighs the one negative. =)
