weekend yuckiness

So the plan for going home this weekend was to vist Evanston, hang out with people I hadn't seen for a while, Tracy and I would have dinner with my family on Sunday and it would be a nice, fun and relaxing time. Well I seriously had some bad karma working against me because practically none of those things happened. I went to see a movie with Al on Friday, and it honestly was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. I usually am not one to walk out of movies or ask for my money back. In fact, I'm more than willing to give a movie a chance and usually want to see a movie to completion. But Date Movie was just god awful horrible. So horrible, I went up to the ticket counter and asked for my money back. Upon denying my request I pleaded to him "This movie made me lose all faith in humanity, I seriously can't get my money back?" To which he replied, "Our policy is that we only refund if you have left less than half-way through a movie or if you have a special reason why you want you money back." I deadpanned back, "Losing all faith in humanity isn't a special reason?" to which he replied, "No, sorry sir." I am moved to write a letter to the studio to demand my money back. It's going to be a classic letter. Al and I actually had a discussion afterwards about the pure amount of stupidity in the world. I will get my $8.50 back even if I have to go to Hollywood to do it, like the South Park episode with Mel Gibson.

Saturday, Tracy and I were going to go to Evanston and so I called up Glenn hoping that we could get some Mock Trial people together and we could have fun and hang out. I called Glenn up twice on Saturday and left him a message, and he never got back to me. So Tracy and I were left to decide what to do. One of Tracy's friends supposedly was playing at a bar/coffee place downtown so I figured if Glenn didn't come through we could head down there. Before that however, we went to California Pizza Kitchen. This was a bad move. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, and during that time Tracy went shopping. As we got back to see if our name was called, as was our luck it had been called. So henceforth we had to wait another 15 minutes or so just to get seated. Meanwhile, there were hordes of 10-11 year old girls just running around screaming in the waiting area. Plus when we got into the restaurant, it seemed like every other table was kids. Not that I don't like kids, but this was supposed to be a romantic style dinner and that really took away from the mood. Plus I was starving which didn't help matters. Anyway, I called Hari and asked him if he wanted to go to this concert so we decided to stop by Hari's place which I hadn't seen yet and then go to the concert. It was great seeing Hari and Bryan, but while on our way to get flowers for Tracy's friend we find out the the concert was actually on Friday. Yuck. All of our plans defeated, we went to a diner with Hari and Bryan and hung out. And then on Sunday, Tracy's brother was being a dork so her parents didn't decide to go to Wheaton, and hence she didn't come over for dinner. All in all, a very strange and frustrating weekend. Just have to roll with the punches.
