i feel so empty inside
a windows left wide open
the breeze cold against my skin
he was one thing
i said i would never let in

magically tricked
by the things inside
crafted so giftedly
he carved my heart out of my chest
and showed me the last few beats
that my heart had left

with fingers pressed
to my lips
he whispered in a breath
"i love you"
and he let my blood drip

music in the background
i hear it in the distance
a tune he played to me
breaks me slowly
from the inside out

tears go on
falling on forever
breaking all the boundaries
that he promised me
neither of us would set

as a dreaded nightmare
goes on forever haunting
i fell so hard
like a piece of paper
you tore me in half
you handed me one section
keeping the other for yourself
you walked right on by
leaving me behind
