My point is, though, that I definitely understand the desire for payback, and making sure the enemy is thoroughly defeated. Given its strength, though, for now I'm inclined to believe that simply driving it away with no casualties is enough of a miracle.

Before you ask, Amada and Yamato don't count as casualties.

THE PLAN WAS, I WAS SUPPOSED TO SAVE YAMATO BEFORE HIS STUPID ROBOT EXPLODED. BUT DID HE GIVE ME MY CUE? NO!

That was his choice. I don't believe someone as skilled as him would have done that by mistake. Perhaps he thought his time was up - far be it from use to deny anyone their mortality.

However, I don't believe he intended to die, and given his capabilities, he's surely still alive somewhere.
