In Time With You [我可能不會愛你] Drama Review
Summary:
On her 30th birthday, Cheng You Qing received an email on "the symptoms of premature aging" from Li Da Ren, her best friend of 14 years. Unable to accept that Li Da Ren is like a fine wine that will get better with age and she is like a grape that will dry into a raisin as years go by, she made a bet with Li to see who will get married first before they turn 35. As she looked around for a potential husband, she discovered that she was surrounded by unacceptable candidates, like gay assistant or cheating ex-boyfriend. The only man who could love her despite her ill temper and stubbornness is her best friend. The only problem was that they both swore that they were not or will ever be romantically attracted to each other. (cr: dramawiki)

Jassie Chen as Maggie
First Impressions:
I didn't really expect much of the drama. I was honestly just watching for Ariel Lin because I didn't know who the other two male leads were. After reading the summary, I thought Ariel's character would be this girl who is desperate to find love because she is "old". Then, she is falling in love with her best friend and trying to get him to like her. My predictions were totally wrong and I'm glad I was.
Plot:
It was the complete opposite of what I thought the story line would be. It is Li Da Ren who is in love with Cheng You Qing. When they were young, Da Ren told You Qing that there is no possibility of him loving her and since then they have become best friends who tell each other everything. Da Ren loved You Qing but couldn't tell her because they've been friends for so long. Along the way, You Qing (kinda) falls in love with her assistant, Nic, and her ex, Ding Li Wei comes back for a second chance. Da Ren also begins a relationship with a younger co-worker Maggie. But in the end, it is clear that Da Ren and You Qing are made for each other.
Thoughts and Opinions:
So reading that summary totally ruined everything. Not only is the summary pretty useless, but it spoiled a major plot point which is that Nic is gay! I have a love-hate relationship with the narration at the very beginning of the drama. I liked it because it's a nice way of introducing this idea of time and happiness but on the other hand, it was so boring! Half the time I was like: What is happening? When is this going to be over? After you get over that, it's all good. I liked that this drama was a kind of slow paced, slice of life drama. It's realistic and funny without being over the top. The dynamics of the characters constantly change, which is great, but after around episode 9 and 10, I got really tired. It just got kind of repetitive of how Da Ren wants to tell You Qing, but doesn't and You Qing struggling with deciding between Li Wei and Da Ren. I actually skipped episodes 9 to 12 and honestly I felt like I didn't really missed much. The ending was sweet and cute and made this drama really worth watching.
Bottom Line?
I recommend watching this drama if you like slice of life dramas. I'm sure a lot of people can personally relate to this drama. The actors were great and the scenery was beautifully shot. Ariel had fantastic chemistry with Bo Lin and Sunny. I hope to see Ariel in another drama soon.
★★★★☆ 4 Stars!
