Title: Beast
Fandom: Crow Zero 2
Characters: Izaki Shun, Tokaji Yuji
Rating: PG
Warning: Vulgar language
Summary: Izaki wasn't used to being defeated.
A/N: Takes place after Izaki's fight with Serizawa. I was so excited after watching CZ2 that I had to write this out. Unfortunately, there doesn't even seem to be a community dedicated to Crow Zero, so obviously there's no fic out there either. So I guess it's up to hype it up lol.

Izaki came back to consciousness with a jolt. Although his head felt groggy, there was no mistaking the ache of his body and the sting of various cuts on his face. Fuck, but Serizawa kicked hard.

"Still haven't crawled off?"

Izaki didn't open his eyes at the redundant question. For one, he recognized the condescending voice, and he didn't want to see the smirk on Tokaji's face. More importantly, even his eyelids were throbbing in pain, and all he wanted to do was lie there and dissolve into the ground.

After a few minutes of silence, Izaki finally pulled his eyes open to eye Tokaji. The dark haired man was sporting bruises and bandages on his face, but that didn't deter him from smirking down at Izaki, who was lying at his feet.

"Fuck off," Izaki coughed. "You're blocking my sunlight."

Tokaji didn't deign to reply that there was no sunlight, due to the fact that it was raining hard. Instead, he pushed off from and rounded the scarred railing, coming even more into Izaki's personal space. The stocky thug squatted down and offered him an open palm, which the latter eyed warily. The last time that they were that close, they'd beat the shit out of each other. Then again, Izaki hurt too much to complain. But first...

"Cigarette," he grunted, rolling his throbbing arm of his chest.

"You're one to fucking talk," Tokaji retorted, though that damnable smirk remained on his face. Izaki wondered how the other man was able to pull such facial expressions when just thinking about it made him twinge.

Tokaji patted his pockets and shook a cig out of a crumpled pack. Izaki accepted it gratefully, anticipating the nicotine's numbing effects. A snap of a lighter after, and Izaki already felt five times better.

"Alright?" Tokagi asked after his first couple of drags.

"Okay," Izaki grunted, accepting the proffered hand.

With the help of the railing against which Izaki'd collapsed, the two managed to get him up without falling more than twice. Izaki moved to throw his right arm over Tokaji's shoulder, but hissed when his muscles cramped painfully. He hadn't meant to overextend himself, but apparently even his full strength hadn't been enough.

"Don't fall again, Blondie." With deceptive ease, Tokaji ducked under his other arm to take his weight. Izaki glared at him from his peripheral vision, but accepted the help without comment.

The two made their way slowly down the alleyway - Izaki limping, Tokaji sheltering them both with a twisted umbrella. They didn't speak as they walked, though that was likely because Izaki's ribs felt cracked.

"You finally fought Serizawa," Tokaji remarked as they splashed through the downpour.

Izaki's glower deepened. He didn't want to discuss his defeat, especially not with Serizawa's right hand man.

"Don't worry," the other chuckled darkly, sensing his irritation. "No one beats Serizawa. I thought you would've figured that out by now."

"Why are you helping me?" Izaki shot back, becoming increasingly annoyed.

"Because I understand," Tokaji replied smoothly. "We are the same."

Izaki snorted derisively. Tokaji didn't elaborate on his ambiguous comment, but Izaki understood too, and he had to admit that Tokaji was right. They had both chosen their leaders by instinct and respect. They hadn't had to fight their current leaders to know strength when they saw it: both Genji and Serizawa had the potential to conquer Suzuran. The only difference was that Genji was more of a wild dog, whereas Serizawa was the venomous snake type - a snake with damned strong legs.

"Who's the same as you, pig face," Izaki grunted, shoving at the other man. They'd finally reached his rundown apartment, and he was sufficiently close to the door that he could stumble inside without falling.

"Don't ask me to carry you home a second time," Tokaji responded, watching Izaki fumble with the key.

"I won't," Izaki growled, irritated again. He didn't think he could stand another second of Tokaji's smug presence, so he forcefully slammed the door in his smirking face.

Now that felt satisfying.
