Umm, haha, I actually didn't read whatever book you're probably referencing. I read a scifi novel that had a page where it quoted that, and I just quoted the quotes. Read Michael Crichton! He is cool! :]

Hmmm, good question. I don't know. I think our brains naturally develop towards what works best in our current environments, and there's probably no use trying to force yourself into being "mature" when it wouldn't help you in life. Even if you end up succeeding, that's just anti-Darwinism, and it's going to to screw you over later.

"A child-like flexibility of attitudes, behaviors and knowledge may be useful in navigating the increased instability of the modern world" where "people are more likely to change jobs, learn new skills, move to new places."

Immaturity helps in you today's environment, making it the best choice for your brain. Which makes it "maturity". Redefining of terms here!

It kinda bites because I FEEL LIKE I HAVE GROWN IN COLLEGE!!! Not regressed.

But oh well.

And yes I have read 1984. But it was in 8th grade, so most of it probably flew over my head. I should reread it. :]
