HI, SHOW. WELCOME BACK TO THE WORLD OF EPICLY MOTHERFUCKING EPIC.
So, things are still not 100% perfect. I have a few ISSUES. But, with the last twenty minutes especially, I would say things are looking to be more amazing than they've been all year. We have a bunch of our heroes in one place, some angst, a bit of crack thrown in, and AWESOMENESS to top it all off. I am so motherfucking excited, you guys, I can't even process properly, so I'll just go by character.
Claire: LOVE HER. She is still not a genius (Clairebear, next time you sneak around? DO NOT WEAR HEELS), but she is turning into such a little badass and I adore it. The acid tongue, the tasering, the ever-present need to do what feels right. THAT moment in the car where she kicked the guard? Jesus. WAY TO GO, CLAIREBEAR. Loveeeeee. I'm actually starting to get a kick out of her obsession with Sylar. It makes me want to write that Elle/Claire fic I abandoned forever ago. I'm sort of annoyed that the bit on the plane means MORE of the eternal HRG/Claire angst, but I think I'll live if she gets to keep the taser. I also loved her scene with Nathan. I think that "I hate you." / "I know" bit is the most father/daughterly they've ever been.
Peter: Dear Milo, your epic, twitchy little mouth keeps me up at night. KNOCK IT OFF. Love, me. Seriously though, his bangs are starting to grow back, his POWERS ARE RETURNING, and the angst is all over the place. His inferiority complex makes me aww like nothin' else. He's still adorable, and he wasn't even that much of a doofus today! He's totally becoming my favorite again; I cannot help myself. His scenes with Nathan... jesus. This show goes to new heights EVERY time to make them look even more like lovers. "How 'bout dinner? I'll text you when and where?" RIDICULOUS. "I'm gonna fight you with every breath that I have, I swear to god." AND THEN A HUG. I saw that coming a mile off, but that was still the gayest gay to ever gay (& I totally loved it). I think I will survive this Peter/Nathan angst, because "Don't hurt him. YES.
Nathan: I really don't know. I think I like it? I think it's upsetting but awesome? It's hard to tell what I feel about Nathan, yet, because Pasdar is so damn amazing in general...
Mohinder: I really really hated Mohinder's powers, even before they turned him into a spider, but I am LOVING this. He was totally feisty without being a FREAK about it and it was great. The Mohinder/Peter cab scene brought back all the love I used to have for those two; I want ficcccc badly. I've always resented how their relationship just gets dropped and picked up at random, but the cab scene sort of made it okay. And the enddddd! ALSO. Mohinder momentarily siding with Nathan? COME ON.
Sylar: Way to go, Quinto. You basically played by yourself for an entire episode and you STILL were awesomesauce. I loved that moment with his uncle (what is with this show and uncles?), that instant where he decides not to kill the guy. It wasn't redeemed!Sylar, just Sylar deciding not to make a mess. (It's also probably what got him into trouble later in the episode, though, so we'll see how long that sort of hesitation lasts.) The fight with the soldiers was fucking great.
Hiro & Ando: Aside from "Ando" being the password for someone Hiro cares a lot about (which I saw the second he said it), these two barely held my interest. I just wish they'd grow up, or something. Or stop trying to grow up, and be who they were before. Idk.
Matt & Daphne: I love Grunny to pieces (he's reason numero dos I started watching the show!), but Christ are they ever reaching to include him. I guess it's kinda neat that Matt, who never met Isaac, is becoming the newest psychic artist, but... wouldn't it make more sense to use someone who has displayed psychic powers? Or even someone like Hiro, who has extensive knowledge of the future? I guess I just really hoped he'd be, like, badass Parkman from "Five Years Gone" now. Also, Daphne is stupid & needs to go away. What?
