you can lead a horse to a pop video, but you can't make it like it.

one. This video. Probably relevant to only a few people's interests, but I don't care. Noel Fielding imitating Bon Jovi around 3:40 made me laugh until I cried this afternoon and THAT HAPPENS LESS THAN YOU'D THINK. Also, Julian Barratt. Always.

two. I've been reading The Time Traveler's Wife the past couple days. I think I am the last person alive to actually do this, which begs the question, why didn't anyone mention this book is actually really fucking good and not, you know, boring or/and monstrously depressing? I mean, it's definitely going to break my soul in half at the end and I've spontaneously started crying about fifty times in the last 250, but why did no one tell me that Henry spends about half his parts talking about punk rock? Oh my god, genius. I've been singing the Violent Femmes all day because of this book, and it has been glorious. And this just makes me laaaaugh:
I feel moderately bad about this whole thing. On the one hand, I am providing myself with urgently required survival skills. Other lessons in this series include Shoplifting, Beating People Up, Picking Locks, Climbing Trees, Driving, Housebreaking, Dumpster Diving, and How to Use Oddball Things like Venetian Blinds and Garbage Can Lids as Weapons. On the other hand, I’m corrupting my poor innocent little self. I sigh. Somebody’s got to do it.

three. I know I've posted this song at eastjapan, and recently, but whatever. This song came on this morning for the first time in a while and it put me in such a good mood. Mirah - Sweepstakes Prize: You remind me of a firework, boy. You touch the ceiling, you touch the floor. You sparkle and burn but you take your time. And I bet I could carry you across state lines. I'd tell you why, but I don't know. It's simple and so complicated. I could walk all day on the railroad track. But there's much more to it than that. You know all of my secret ideas, the ones I'm giving up on and the ones I'll keep. And everybody sees a funny look in our eyes 'cause we know that we already won the sweepstakes prize. ... I ask you if you ever think that maybe, it's what's inside of us that drives us crazy. Fingers feeling underneath your skin, there's blood and bones and some rivers to fall in. ... I'm so lucky because I asked you once, "What are you doing? Do you wanna come up for a cup of tea? Come visit with me, we'll play guitars and i'll give you my number."

no! with a motorbike made of jealousy, music is my life, videos, you're clearly from leeds!, hooked on short works of fiction
