Guess what, guys! It's time to talk about the story my favorite girl in the world just wrote. Go read this or we're done, professionally:
some pieces they adjoin by
shiplessheathen, Jared/Jensen, R, 20k: He can see what Jensen's trying to show him: a charcoal sketch of Jensen that Jared had done one night when he couldn't sleep and his real work was giving him hell. "From memory?" he asks, and bites at his lip. Jared crouches low, right in Jensen's space, and says, "I've been looking at you for years, Jensen."
I... it's really hard for me to talk about this story, because there's so much I want to say. It's set in New York; Jared's a painter and Jensen's a cop (which will never not make me flail, months and 20k later), and Jared's been in love with Jensen since they were kids. Jensen's kind of this oblivious douchebag but he's also hilarious and clearly cares about Jared more than anything, and it's just. The way that Jackie writes these two just hits me straight in the chest, every time. I've read the whole thing through a couple of times now and there's this one part makes me cry - not in a bad way, but just because the way it's written is so pitch-perfect. Jackie always knows how to write without overwriting; all the pieces are necessary, and the dialogue is spectacular, and she still manages to throw in all these great little details. And her supporting characters, oh god. Danneel and Ben and Adam and Adrianne are all fucking great, but Genevieve pretty much beats everyone. But, yeah. Jared and Jensen, you guys. Jesus christ: He watches the way Jensen's shoulders move under his t-shirt and the strip of skin showing where his jeans are hanging too low. Some cover of a cover is playing softly on the radio and Jared tries not to think about how easy this could be.
Anyway, you can all stop listening to my bullshit and just go
read. It is absolutely worth your time.
