almost everything is as i expected in portland. the apartment is nice and close to downtown. i still don’t have a job (although i might get an icecream truck driving job in early july and some sort of job at a travel agency seems doable). nara is working at a bridal salon (which is a perfect job for her) and dan is delivering pizzas and doing his best to look as creepy as possible. margaret quit her job at the sierra club because she didn’t want any more “environmental brain washing.” or something

on wednesday man danderson, margaret and i visited my brother at excalibur academy. before we got there we stopped at a gas station that was advertising “lobster chics-six dollars.” we weren’t sure if they were selling lobster or dolls in the lobster shape. It turned out to be lobster so we bought one and named him DOUG THE BUG after the gas station attendant who caught the lobsters that morning. doug (the gas station attendant, not the lobster) referred to lobsters as “bugs.” we took DOUG THE BUG with us on our visit and hid it in the beds of unsuspecting prep school boys. after the visit, we cooked DOUG THE BUG and he was delicious. watch me have zero qualms about eating a short-term pet.

speaking of pets, the apartment now has a fish named “COWBOY.” i will post pictures soon, but he looks exactly like a south park character. (i was thinking of “gobbles” the turkey. i feel stupid talking about south park character, but really if gobbles was a small, handicapped goldfish, he would look like COWBOY.)

man danderson and i are in the library right now and he is reading a book about famous outlaws.

we are having house guests tonight. ohh, and dan and i have made friends with street venders and homeless people.

not much else.
