I have a rat.
She is cute. Actually, I have two rats, and they belong to my class, not me. They are albino and we got them 3 weeks ago when they were three weeks old. We are doing a nutrition experiment on them. They eat identical diets, but one drank milk and the other drank sugar water. It was sugar water so the calories were the same as the milk, but the nutrition was not. They ate just plain oatmeal the first week, then added fruits and veggies, then meat. Now, in the 4th week, we have switched their beverages. We have measured their weight and tail length every week.
I was apprehensive about rodents, but they are really cute and I kind of want to keep them. I would like to have them in one cage when the experiment is over, but we just have 2 10-gal terrariums, and I don't think that's enough space.
This week, report cards go home on Thursday and the Science Fair is Thursday night. I might go crazy. Good thing spring break starts on Friday. Oh, also, I'm hosting my first shower on Saturday... a baby shower for my friend from here. I'm really excited about that, we'll see how it goes. She's having a boy and I made a really cute quilt/blanket that I am very proud of. I'll have to post pictures.
I found out that a nearby middle school is looking for a science teacher, and I'm going to apply. I love reading and math and social studies, but I am just so stressed out with teaching everything every day. I miss teaching lots of science. I know/am friends with the counselor at this school, so maybe I have a good chance.
That is the Katie Gilbert Update. Oh, Also! Todd will have an interview with a multi-city accounting firm in mid-April (after tax season).
