Jobular Update

St. Ambrose decided not to offer 8th grade next year, and then to have 6th/7th as a combined class with one teacher. All three of us who currently teach 6th-8th will be let go, but welcome to apply for the 6th/7th position if interested. Todd says it seems like the most fair option, and I guess he's right. I really love St. Ambrose, and I'd love to teach there again. I'm going to apply for the job, but I'm applying elsewhere, too. Even if I get hired for next year, there's no guarantee that position will still be around in the following year. They will probably re-consider their middle school model at the end of next year just like they did last year.

BUT. My interview at St. Vincent went really well. I would love to teach there, although it is a solid 45 minutes away. I have an interview this week at Northside Middle School in Columbus, IN, which is about 30 minutes away in the "big" town where Todd works. I'm really excited about Northside. Also really nervous.

Since I told y'all about the separation back when it happened a year ago, I should tell you that it's over. Matt served Laurie (Todd's sister) the divorce papers last week. It was a surprise, but of course there were warning signs, and I think Laurie was in the process of working up the courage to do it, anyways. Todd is taking it pretty well. It's hard to say how Laurie's doing, but I think in the long run it will be a relief for her. I think they're splitting up the kids (cats), which is sad.

There was a great surprise waiting for me when I got home from school yesterday! The Dept. of Public Works had come by to smooth out our alley (their responsibility to maintain it), AND because Todd was home and asked really nicely, they dumped a bunch of gravel on our highly uneven parking area next to our garage! For free! We've been planning on buying a truckload of gravel sometime this summer, but now we don't have to and it is terribly exciting. And all because Todd happened to be home to talk to the guys.
