It's disgustingly humid today, as it was last night. I left the tomatoes outside for the first time last night and they look fine this morning. They're only tiny seedlings right now. Among today's chores is to get some small pots to transfer them into. Five varieties of heirloom tomatoes, heavy on the Russians, because they sounded tasty and I thought they'd fare well at this latitude. I was enthusing to Kevin yesterday about how, if this works, I will get to eat tomatoes that I selected for their specific flavor and texture attributes, from a catalog. I know we've been doing that for a hundred years, but I never have.
I'm on my second day in a row off, and have another coming on Wednesday. I have chores, most of them not food-related. I need to get the wedding invitation made and sent soon, but I've been holding off because I don't have any good photos of me and Kevin together that are recent. The last time we had a good one taken, Kevin still had most of his hair. No judgment, just marking the time since we had a portrait. I know some of you (::cough:: Beat and Lolita) have had some beautiful portraits made, and might tell me of a recommended photographer in the area (also Liz?) who could help. We might just snap one now for the invite, but have some portraits done later. We're still talking about it.
I'm still avoiding doctor appointment setting that I should be doing, choosing instead to work on my left/right imbalance issue while doing everyday tasks (lifting, running, bicycling, walking). It seems like a stupid pointless waste to go sit in the hospital waiting room to be X-rayed, then talk to two more doctors, and forever until I've gone through PT again like after the hernia. I know how to take care of this myself, I think. I am definitely seeing improvement in the gym.
We went to the local Pride event this weekend, and it was typically small town and a bit of a let down for me. I don't know why I keep going except I hope to run into friends, and then don't. It's a bunch of vendors, and a bunch of queers I don't know, most of them kids. But then, someone has just randomly said hi on a social networking site I'm on, so I guess if I sneer at a door, a window will just swing right open in an inviting kind of way.
