CHARACTER NAME: Elektra Natchios | Elektra
FANDOM: Daredevil (2003)
CHRONOLOGY: mid-movie; as Elektra and Matt are chasing after her father at the Black and White Ball
CLASS: Neutral with heroic tendencies when it suits her.
SUPERHERO NAME: Elektra...? Her name really is a superheroish.
ALTER EGO: Elektra Natchios, unemployed heiress
BACKGROUND:
World: Elektra heralds from the Marvel (early) movieverse world! It's like ours only people have a tendency to wear leather, tights, or metal suits and save the world. Elektra's piece of the Marvel world, New York City, happens to corrupt and ruled by a crime lord known as the Kingpin. It's rumored that a man dressed like the devil fights him to reclaim the city for the honest, hard working, and oppressed people caught up in this. As of right now, it's only a rumor. Elektra herself has never seen it. Her part in this as of now is very small. She is an heiress whose father is partners with the Kingpin. Her boyfriend is the demonic vigilante fighting to put a stop to them. Elektra is essentially caught in the middle of a situation ready to fall to pieces at any moment.
History: Elektra's early years seem to consist of tag of war between her mother and father over how to raise her. Nikolas encouraged her to train hard and excel while her mother fretted over how much her young daughter could handle. At the age of five, the debate ended when her mother was tragically murdered in front of by an agent of the Hand, Kirigi. Elektra received her mother's necklace on that day and repressed the memory of who did the deed. After that, the father and daughter moved away, presumably to New York City where we next see the pair.
At a coffee shop, she meets Matt Murdock for the first time. Initially she blows him off despite his efforts to get her attention. Only when he follows her to a park after she tries to ditch him he manages to get her attention. It isn't the positive kind he was hoping for however. The two fight in an almost flirtatious way. Elektra ultimately wins though she gives Matt her name as a sign he has indeed earned her attention and respect. She promises to find him later and the two part ways.
Later on Elektra follows him until he notices her. From there, they end up on a rooftop that features Matt's favorite view of the city. The two talk and almost end the night early after Matt asks her about what happened to her mother. He manages to convince her to stay so he can see what she looks like in the rain. Matt calls her beautiful and the two passionately kiss after some hesitation on Elektra's part. Again they almost part ways for the night when Matt overhears a fight on the street. Elektra convinces him to spend the night with her, not knowing she was pulling him away from being Daredevil that night, and they make love. Matt later wakes up with only an invitation to the Black and White Ball as his company.
They meet again later there. The two dance together and Elektra again opens up to him. She confides that good things scare her and Matt promises nothing bad will happen. Later on, Elektra notices her father leaving the party in a rush with his bodyguards. Fearing for his safety, Elektra follows after him with Matt. When her father refuses to tell her what's going on, she punches a bodyguard and forces her way into the limo with him. The two later fight in both Greek and English about what was happening. She gets him to admit that New York wasn't safe for that night before shutting her down completely.
Shortly after they are attacked by Bullseye and their car crashes. Matt (as Daredevil) tries to defend them from another of Bullseye's attacks. Ultimately he fails when his weapon is stolen and used to kill Nikolas before Elektra's eyes. Because of her position on the ground during this, Elektra does not see Daredevil until after Bullseye escapes and assumes Daredevil is the killer. She tries to kill him in revenge but, ultimately Daredevil manages to escape.
Shortly after, Elektra holds a funeral for her father. Matt meets her there, tries to convince her to give up on revenge, and stay with him. Elektra refuses because she no longer feels she has a place in the world and parts ways with Matt despite his pleas. Afterward she trains to defeat Daredevil and ends up tracking him down to a roof. They fight despite Daredevil repeatedly trying to convince her that he is not the murderer. She wins again and pulls off his mask. Elektra sees she has been fighting Matt all along, begs his forgiveness, and begins to cry.
Bullseye arrives on the scene. Elektra goes to confront him despite Matt's pleas for her not to and promises to find him. They fight, Elektra loses badly, and is thrown off the roof. She crawls to Matt after Bullseye escapes and asks him to help her. He in turn asks her to stay with him but, sadly her heart gives out. Elektra dies in Matt's arms before he leaves to fight Bullseye and Kingpin to avenge her death.
Relationships:
Elektra and Nikolas Natchios: The two share a complicated relationship. On one hand, Nikolas is very hard on her. He wants her to be perfect; to excel at all she does no matter how impossible the task given in. The best example would be making her tread water without her hands when she was around five years old despite her mother pointing out she was only a kid. On the other he is overprotective. He makes Elektra keep bodyguards with her (though she does ditch them frequently). It's clear to Nikolas' enemies she is the most important thing to him considering how often she is threatened as a way to hurt him.
Elektra clearly loves him very much. We see her following after Nikolas during the Black and White Ball in an effort to protect her father from whatever made him run out. His death devastates her to the point where she is willing to give up Matt in order to get revenge for him. She feels without him she has no place in the world. The pair are clearly the center of each other's universes (even if Elektra one day learns to move on).
Elektra and her mother: Very little is known about her mother, in fact she never given a name in both movies. What we do see from the flashbacks both in the main movie and deleted scenes, is that Elektra viewed her in a positive light. Out of the two parents, it was her mother who tried to remind Nikolas to treat Elektra as a little girl and not be so hard on her. The pair clearly shared a normal, loving relationship as mother and daughter. Her death haunts Elektra. We see that Elektra frequently has nightmares about it.
Elektra and Matt Murdock: Very likely her first love. In the short time they spend together, they become incredibly close. It's arguable to say it was one of those love at first sight deals (though Matt actually smells her perfume. Details). He's the only other person in the world Elektra cares about aside from her father. Toward the end, she chose avenging her father's murder over Matt. After they fight due to a case of mistaken identity, Elektra deeply regrets the way things turned out and starts to cry after she realizes Matt (as Daredevil) was trying to protect her all along. She later dies in Matt's arms being unable to defeat her father's true killer.
PERSONALITY:
Elektra is the perfect loyal, devoted daughter. She strives to make herself the best. Why? Because that is what her father expects of her. There is no task that is put in front of her that she will not do everything in her power to excel at. Failure is not an option for her. Needless to say this does not win her friends. She is perfectly content with that.
Elektra is a closed off, distrusting person. When she meets someone she refuses to give her name. She does everything in her power to push whoever tries to speak to her away (if her bodyguards do not get to it first). She is even willing to get violent if that is what it takes to get rid of them. She has no desire to have anyone in her life aside from her father.
That is on the surface though. Deep down Elektra is lonely and unhappy. She often ditches her bodyguards just to get away from it all. The pressure of her father’s demands puts a huge strain on her emotionally which caused her to develop Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She suffers from terrible nightmares about her mother’s death. A great part of her just longs to connect with someone just to ease the pressure and loneliness.
One day it does happen. Elektra meets her kindred spirit in the form of a blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen named Matt Murdock. He will be someone who can keep up with her physically and emotionally being no stranger to tragedy and high expectations from a father himself. When Elektra is with him, we see an entirely different side of her. She can be playful and caring to the needs and desires of people aside from her father.During their fight in the playground, he jokes with her about why they are fighting (he just wants her name) and she quickly returns that he should try getting her number. When Matt later requests on their first date that she stay with him so he can see what she looks like in the rain (when it rains, he claims that he can almost see again) and she obliges despite the fact she was trying to leave the date sooner. When Matt tries to leave the early date too (he overhears someone being mugged due to his enhanced hearing), she stops him and later does not question him about it; she lets him keep his secrets.
While there's a great deal of darkness inside of Elektra stemming from her mother's death, just waiting to seep out the moment her father passes, she does have a pure heart as Stick puts it. Her actions are guided by love. It is the loss of the people she held closest to her that pushes her later to act out in violence and cause pain to everyone around her. It is out of love for Abby she later finds redemption by protecting her and is able to make peace with the past.
Of course none of that is relevant at her current canonpoint. She is only an heiress struggling with her mother's death, trying to protect her father, while letting someone new into her heart as of now.
POWER:
As of right now, Elektra has no canon powers. She is a martial artist and knows her fair share about weapons. I was hoping to draw on that for her power. I would like her to have the ability to summon her weapons, namely her trademark sais, at will. Of course at first she'll likely do it on accident and gradually over time get the hang of it kind of like Sora from Kingdom Hearts with his keyblade.
This may also be poking at the fact that they have a tendency magically appear in both movies for no apparent reason but, please indulge me?

COMMUNITY POST (FIRST PERSON) SAMPLE:
[voice]
[A very irritated female voice is addressing the Network at large.]
You know a lot of people have tried to kidnap me over the years but, I've got to hand it to you guys. Not only did you succeed, you managed to come up with a unique demand. Trying to convince me to become a vigilante.... Is this your way of messing with me or am I drugged out of my mind in some hole somewhere?
Of all the people in New York City, some of which already run around in masks and tights to defend the public and would be happy to play along with this, you picked an heiress to protect you. I'm not sure if you're insane or incredibly stupid and honestly I don't care. I have something important to do. Someone who I actually want to defend needs me right now and you're getting in my way. Unless you want me to show you what I can do I suggest you return me to him immediately.
[There's a pause, almost like she's done threatening, before she speaks again in a calm, even voice. This time she has the sense to reign herself in. He's worth swallowing some of her pride for.]
There was a man with me. I was holding his hand so he has to be here with me. I know no matter what you did to get me here he wouldn't let go. He's very tall, has dark red hair, and pale skin. Right now he's in a tuxedo and wearing sunglasses. He's blind so I don't know if he can find his way around here and he shouldn't have to. Whoever is listening to this if you could just give me an idea of where to find him...
[Her voice drops slightly. She still sounds in control but, there's something else there: desperation. Elektra can't stand the thought of something happening to him. Matt doesn't have someone willing to give the world to spare his life. He could be dead right now because of it.]
Please. I have to protect him from whatever is going on here. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to guarantee his safety.
LOGS POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:
Elektra only loved three people in her entire life. Right now two of them she suspected were in serious danger. This was her worst nightmare come to life. There was very little she could do the first man, her father, right now. He either escaped whatever was chased him away from his own ball or Starvos and the others were busy trying to defend him. It worried her. If anything happened to her father, Elektra doubted she could survive it. He was everything to her. Right now her kidnappers had denied her the chance to be there to defend him. Over twenty years of training, useless to the man who gave her life.
And what of the other man she loved? Elektra was clueless. One minute he was there holding her hand while they chased after her father and the next nothing. He could be anywhere in this little set up. Right now all she could do was think he broke his promise. Something bad had happened. Mostly likely it had happened to him. She would do or say anything to undo it. If they wanted her to put on tights and mask it was a small price to pay to have him back with her. Elektra was not going to do a thing until she saw he was safe with her own two eyes. If he was safe. It was hard not to go there after what happened to her mother. A poor lawyer from a rough neighborhood was not worth trying to ransom even if he was on the arm of an heiress that night.
Elektra thinks for a moment she may really start to panic at the thought of finding his corpse somewhere until she reminds herself who she is. She is Elektra Natchios, daughter of Nikolas Natchios. She was no longer a five year old girl who can only watch on helplessly as what she loved was stolen from her in the cruelest way. She will find Matt, protect him, and find a way back to her father. She would not fail. It was not an option because they needed her almost as much as she needed them.
FINAL NOTES ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:
Even though I touched information from the Elektra movie and the Director's Cut of Daredevil, I will be playing her from the mainstream release of the Daredevil movie. The information used is only to give me more to work with since she doesn't have as much screentime in the Director's Cut.
