FIC: The Road Home (The Eagle Slash)
So, hey, how ya' been?
Yes, I know, I know, it's been forever since I posted anything here,and even longer since I posted a real, honest to god fic! Let me just say, RL has been crazy. Crazy good in a lot of ways, except that my writing time has gone to practically nil. Still, I finally saw the movie The Eagle when it came out on video back in the summer, and while it wasn't exactly Oscar worthy, it hit all my happy buttons...Roman occupied Britain, h/c out the whazoo, and bromance that was one step away from Broke Back Mountain. I mean, really, when Esca says "I will return," he might as well have been saying "I wish I knew how to quit you." The last half hour of that movie played like a fanfic, so how could I resist?
Actually, I went and read the book prior to starting the fic that was tumbling around in my head (after watching the last half of the movie a few dozen times), so the fic I came up with is a bit of an amalgam of both. Basically, in this fic, the movie canon takes precedence over the book canon, but I used the book to fill in some details. I have to say there were things I enjoyed much more about the book (Cub!!!) but there were other things I liked better about the movie (Cotia? Who? What's a Cotia?). In both, though, the attraction between Esca and Marcus was palpable.
So, anyway, I know this may not be the fandom many of you were hoping for for a fic from me, but this is the one that nagged at me until it was written....a little over a year from the day the movie was released in the theaters. Better late than never, right? I'm hoping you'll give it a chance if you like my h/c and my romance. Just click on the title below.
