[TOD] Break the law
It was stupid.
It was just generally a bad idea, but he was going to do it anyway. It was his own fault for leaving the book there in the first place, he didn’t need his date from the night before catching on to whatever it was that Bailey had left him. After all, Bailey was a big girl and didn’t necessarily need him to protect her, but the message that was left in the book in the fed’s sister’s apartment wasn’t exactly going to help matters. Not in the slightest.
And the fact that things had ended rather badly wasn’t helping either.
A combination of all of the above was why he was standing outside her building, staring up at the fire escape in between checking the perimeter for people that weren’t going to get him into trouble. As soon as he was convinced thoroughly that there was no one around who was going to report him to the NSA or any other organization that might be looking to kill him, he jumped up and landed on the fire escape over his head, before he started to climb. He was about eighty-five percent certain that she lived on the side of the building with the fire escape. Then again, he hadn’t really been paying attention at the time-the half-naked woman in front of him was providing quite the distraction. Still, eighty-five percent wasn’t having no idea.
He paused at the floor in question, leaning forward and peering into the window to make sure he was at the right place. The apartment didn’t quite look the same, but she could have remodeled. It had been all of a week, and this girl didn’t exactly seem the type to stick with her decisions long. Pausing for a moment, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small knife to jimmy the latch on the window, slowly pushing it open and easing himself inside, trying to make as little noise as possible. The fewer people he alerted to his presence, the better. Leaving the window open in case he needed to make a quick escape, he started to make his way into the room, eyes quickly scanning the surfaces as he did.
