Well, I'll jump forward on Paradise Lost b/c there are no wars in Heaven nor any views of Hell for a while (it's boring when He's just doing the creating and miracles and stuff).
Book 7: the story of creation. One of the interesting things is that Chaos coming into it; & it's designated as both a thing & a being w/a personality (well, at least it's a being, I don't know what it's like to hang out with, at least not since college). Bk 7, Chaos takes a gander (Bk 7, 221-223):For Chaos heard his voice: Him all his train
Followed in bright procession, to behold
Creation, and the wonders of his might.
Then God (lines 225-231):He took the golden compasses, prepared
In God's eternal store, to circumscribe
This universe, and all created things:
One foot he centered, and the other turned
Round through the vast profundity obscure;
And said, 'Thus far extend, thus far thy bounds,
This be thy just circumference, O World!'
That last passage was one of the reasons why reading Philip Pullman's Golden Compass trilogy was a little confusing. I didn't believe anything that the angels said that the kids meet in, what, the 2nd & 3rd books? I figured they were demons from Hell trying to trick them.
oh, and: God has a store? Does He have sale days? I bet you get some amazing deals.
