"You can't ignore him forever" Ianto said walking up to Gwen as she tossed her phone into her bag.
"I know, I know..." Gwen replied through a sigh, "I- I just can't talk to him right now."
"Every couple fights Gwen...and goodness knows me and Jack did." Ianto said and let a reminiscent smile cross his face. Gwen eyed him curiously, trying to read his mind.
"But that is another story." Ianto said, keeping the smile, and wagged his finger back and forth.
Gwen smiled, for the first time that day, "He's only trying to understand your life...but people just need to release the tension over things they don't understand."
"So we argue..." Gwen said knowingly
"Exactly."
"But this week -god...I mean how do we go on? What will we do? And now Rhys, it’s just too much to handle."
"You go home, you clear the air. And you come back and you go on day by day." Ianto told her.
Gwen absorbed his words, "And you know the make up sex is great." Ianto said completely off hand.
Gwen was scandalised, and drew a sharp breath; "Ianto Jones! Wash your mouth out."
"Why did you think me and Jack fought? Angry sex is..." Ianto started then blushed at his memories.
Gwen laughed until she cried.
"Call him." Ianto said gently when she finished.
"I will don't worry." she replied and smiled at him.
"I'm going to check on Owen, I said I would." Ianto said and turned away
"See you sweetheart." Gwen said quietly with a sad smile, "Rhys? Yeah it's me..." she said as she walked through the beaded curtain.

"It won't do it itself." Ianto observed while leaning on the railings in the med bay, carefully watching a stoic Owen staring at the weevil remains.
"It’s dead. Does it matter how?" Owen asked harshly.
"In the grand scheme of things, I suppose not." Ianto reasoned as he descended the small flight of stairs, "But it could help."
Owen slung the autopsy equipment over the bay, the sound of metal on ceramic resonated for all to hear.
"Now you know you’re only going to have to pick them up." Ianto said with a slight tut and a smile.
"You're not likely to are you?"
"Nope." Ianto said his smile broadening when he saw Owen smile slightly in response to his own.
"Look I'm sorry, there was no excuse for what I said back then."
"I have a list as long as my arm, you're going to have to be more specific."
"You're enjoying this aren't you?" Owen sneered
"Owen Harper apologising? Wouldn't miss it for the world."
"I'm sorry I called you Jack's 'part-time shag' you're more than that to him. I was angry and I shouldn't have taken it out on you." Owen told him with genuine sincerity.
"Thank you, it means a lot."
"Hey and don't tell the others, they'll all be wanting apologies next." Owen warned
"Won't say a word." Ianto reassured and made a turning motion with his hand near his mouth and threw away the 'key'. "I'm putting on a coffee, do you want one."
"Yeah cheers." Owen said from the floor as he picked up the scalpels from under the autopsy table, "No sugar!" Owen called as he got up knowing Ianto would be gone by the time he looked around.

The faint aroma of rich, deep coffee drifted through the Hub.
"Ianto?" Tosh whispered in hope.
"Hey Tosh, how are you holding up?" the soothing calm voice answered back.
"I'm not," she laughed "It’s all a lie; the smile, the 'buck-up' attitude."
"Its gets easier."
"Does it? How can it now-now..." she started and broke into a sob.
"Hey shush..." Ianto soothed pulling Tosh from her chair and wrapped his arms around her. "Everything happens for a reason."
"I'm sorry." Tosh cried but she was determined not to break down completely.
"I know...look I, I have to go." Ianto said and planted a soft kiss on her head.
"Okay." She breathed as she backed out of Ianto's arms and wiped away her tears.
Ianto stepped back and Tosh sat back down at her desk and ran her hand through her hair then let out a tired sigh.
"Ianto?" she asked desperately and she whipped around, but he was gone leaving only the coffee aroma behind.
~...~
Ianto found Jack where he thought he would.
"You know I shouldn't be here. I should be in the Hub with everyone else...it's against the rules." Ianto said as means of an introduction.
"Screw the rules. I'm breaking them."
"That could get you in a lot of trouble with the sexual harassment laws." Ianto said with a smirk.
"Those are meant to be bent, at every opportunity. You know that." Jack said with a half-smile on his face.
"Do me a favour?"
"Every time."
"Don't change. Not for anyone."
Jack laughed at the irony.
"I'm being serious so stop giggling...I've seen your heart and I fell for you, so please don't change."
"I promise."
"We should..." Ianto said, his voice cracking, "We should get back. I put coffee on, and erm...it should be done by now."
"I fell for you too..." Jack said, "I should have told you earlier but i got you something for your birthday." Jack said and produced a small leather box.
Ianto smiled and quirked up an eyebrow "Cuff-links?" he asked.
"No."
"...tie-pin?" Ianto guessed again.
"No, just open it will you..." Jack said smiling and handed it over to Ianto, letting their hands graze.
"It’s...its perfect." Ianto said when he opened the box and saw the platinum ring inside, "but...our timing was never quite right was it?"
"Yeah...we could have been better." Jack agreed and lovingly smiled at Ianto.
"I love it. I love you..." Ianto said tears welling up in his eyes, "and I wish I could wear it; if only once."
"Me too." Jack said, tears spilling down his cheeks.
Ianto kissed Jack and wiped away his tears, "Come on...the coffee will be getting cold, and we can't have that can we?"
~...~
"Coffee's ready." Ianto called placing the tray down on the table.
Tosh came from the archives, dabbing her eyes. Owen appeared from the autopsy bay, shrugging off his lab coat. Gwen came down from the tourist office and hung up on Rhys.
They stood in silence, looking at each other.
The invisible lift started its decent; Jack stepped off before it completely reached the floor. They all stared at each other again before taking tentative steps towards the tray of mugs.
Each took their own mug...it was almost like old times.
One mug was missing; Ianto's garish mug Jack had bought him with "worlds best boyfriend" plastered on it.
Tosh was about ready to burst into tears again, Owen was angry, Gwen didn't know where to look so chose her feet. Jack stared at the dark liquid in his mug.
"Where have you been?" Tosh asked in her small voice, as the tears began to roll.
"...His...his grave." Jack answered.
