Death Eighteen: A FRIEND FROM HOME

Nov 29, 2011 16:27

[Death had not enjoyed the holiday. Not at all. However when he walks outside he finds a rather strange, rather large box waiting for him by the mailbox.

A. There is a white horse standing outside the house. No such thing as a white horse you say? Binky is odd like that. Death is patting his head. Binky is a little confused at the moment.

B. There is a skeleton in a black cloak riding through the air on a white horse. They've just landed on the ground near you.

C.  High School History Class. You guys still have the best teacher. The walking skeleton whose voice just appears in your heads.]

NOW. TODAY I THINK WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE TRADITION OF CELEBRATING THE WINTER SOLSTICE AND THE NEW YEAR. ON THE DISC, THIS IS REFERRED TO AS....

[Goes to write on the board.]

HOGSWATCH.

AROUND THIS TIME OF YEAR, CHILDREN ALL OVER THE DISC ARE WRITING THEIR LETTERS TO THE HOGFATHER, ASKING FOR GIFTS AND STATING WHETHER THEY HAVE BEEN GOOD. IT IS TRADITION. JUST AS CARDS AND POORLY WORDED CAROLS ARE ALSO TRADITIONS.

NOW THEN CHILDREN. I WILL REQUIRE ONE ASSIGNMENT FROM ALL OF YOU. DUE IN A WEEKS TIME.

WRITE A LETTER TO THE HOGFATHER.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS?

holidays, binky, the hogfather, hogswatch, death and his horse, family
