Abstraction Personification

Mercy, my love, ne'er asks twice
But extends a hand in silence
Beckoning, pleading
Awaiting rejection, dares not to hope.
Mercy expects little, yet gives all
Until nothing is left to offer
But itself.

Hope, my love, ne'er speaks at all
But hovers in the corner
Weeping, singing
Denying rejection, dares not to despair.
Hope needs nothing, yet lives eternally
Until the last leaf falls
And darkness consumes.

Despair, my love.
Despair believes nothing.
Sees nothing, nothing but itself.
Despair is selfish, but knows nothing
Even of it's own nature.
It lurks in the hallways
Haunts the stairs
And eats only what you leave for it.
