There are few women that Gwaine could ever forget, but that doesn't mean he feels what he does with all of them. Maybe it's just that Miranda reminds him of his own time, but he'd liked her desperately during those strange dates. He'd liked her enough that he's gone around to whatever flower patches he can find to cobble together a small and humble ( Read more... )

This is a first for Miranda, at least such as this and she is trying to not let it show. Ferdinand had been lovely and good, but theirs had been a hurried afair, never far from the prying eyes of her mother. Gwaine had been charming when she had met him, during that strange night and she could not have refused him even if she had wanted to.

Tucking a loose bit of hair behind her ear, smoothing out her dress before entering the clearing in front of the Compound. Walking towards him, she smiles and puts on a brave face to hide her nerves. "Hello, I do hope that I have not kept thee waiting."

He's on his feet in a practical instant, flipping back his hair and sliding a hand through it to best present his many attractive physical aspects for her -- after all, he's not dim when it comes to what he has to offer. He knows that he's something of a catch -- even if a bit smelly. "Life's all about enjoying every moment," he insists, offering out the remaining flowers to her. "And for someone as beautiful as you, I'm willing to wait twice as long."

The gesture strikes her as oddly preening. Miranda often wonders if there are more similarities between man and beast than either would care to admit to. If she had been at home, she'd have consulted Ariel on this matter or asked her mother. But neither are here for her to seek answers from.

She blushes faintly, staring up at him as she shakes her head. "I do agree with such a think, though I should not have kept thee waiting. There is much to be said for manners."

"I was raised into a house of manners, but then I learned very quickly to cast them aside in order to have more fun," he confesses, lifting her palm to his lips in order to press a slow kiss to each of her knuckles. "There was no fun in being a Knight when all that was asked was service and nothing more."

Gwaine is most peculiar, but Miranda has not yet decided if such is a good thing or a bad thing. Perhaps it is neither here nor there, but his frank and forward manner is quite charming in its way. "You cannot have cast them all away," she points out even though she is not certain that he would not be able. Chewing on her lower lip, she hopes her blush isn't too noticeable as he takes her hand. "I suppose there would not be, but admittedly I know little of knights in reality. Princes, yes, but knights no."

"I'm not your typical knight," Gwaine promises, reluctant to take leave of her hand. He kept it in his, pulling her along gently as he cast a soft smile upon her -- inspired by her beauty. "I'm not a very good one. Not very respectable, at least. I didn't serve a kingdom so much as I served myself."

"Oh." Miranda is not entirely certain what she ought to say to such a thing. She believes that there is no house, no person who does look so well that good cannot dwell within them. She has heard tales of knights who fell victim to their urges, who did not serve as they should.

She does not pull her hand back, but rather tilts her head slightly. "Surely thou did not betray thy lord. You could not have been such an awful knight. No one did ask you to make vows of piety when they took you into service, did they?"

"I had no Lord to betray, milady," Gwaine corrects her, bringing her along with a gentle tug in order to best treat her with care and affection. After all, he might be a drunkard at times, but he hadn't lost all his wits. "Not until most recently and he is not here. And so, I am only knight to myself. And if you were Lady to only your own whimsies, what would you do?"

"Oh, I do believe that I would do most anything that I did dream of." There is a tone of wonder mixed with mischief in her words. For such a thing is hardly possible, for even though she is now the mistress of her own fate Miranda cannot help but wonder what her lady mother Prosepera would have to say on matters. For instance, what would her mother have to say about her daughter consorting with a man such as this? Hardly anything good, of that Miranda is certain but she finds that she does not care. "If my life did keep me in the path that I had started, then I would have been a lady only unto myself and to my people. Sir, I do say that I could have been thine lady and such a strange thing that would have been."

Gwaine keeps hold of her hand and stops their forward path in order to best look at her with a curious look upon his face, a smile growing slowly as he bows his head to press a fond kiss to her knuckles. "And why should such a thing be so strange to behold? Am I strange?" he questions. "Or you? No," he dismisses with a warm laugh. "I shouldn't think either of us are."

The bemused expression remains on her face as she shakes her head slightly at him, finding his charming demeanor to almost be something of an elaborate jest. It does suit him, she decides, for rogue knights out to have their wits about them lest they should lose their heads. That is not something that Miranda wishes to happen at all.

"Nay I do not think that thou art strange nor do I find my own self to be so, I was simply saying that it would change the nature of this meeting most dramatically," she points out with a smile. "You would have to heed my orders and I would have to think of what to command."

His grin widens just so as he leans in closer and thinks twice about bringing her to fetch a drink. He wonders if he can convince her to while away the time with him in whatever situation she chooses. "But I would enjoy it," he informs her, which is really one of the few things he cares about. "I'd perform your every command."

"Would you now?" Miranda asks taking in the full meaning of his words. Even though they might be plainly spoken there is much to gain from thinking about the manner in which he says them. Chewing on her lower lip she considers him in full before nodding.

"Then we should both have been made merry. Perhaps it is both better and worse for us to meet this way for we can only behave as we are now, not as we would be."

"And then, if we are to behave not as we should be, but as we are, the merriest way that I can think of is to ply you with good drink and good company," he informs her with an easy smile. "Would you object to such a thing?"

"No sir, I do not object," Miranda returns with a wide smile of her own. It does seem to be all the fashion and while she knows that she shall not carry on for as long as she has in the past, there is no need to not enjoy anything at all.

She takes care to avoid tripping over a fallen branch in their way, wondering if it would be rude to take off her shoes. "We shall make merry in the best of ways though I do believe you have more experience at that than I do."

"My experience in merry ways has a great deal to do with drink," Gwaine admits, though he's yet to imbibe today. It doesn't take away from the fact that it's a habit of his and one he's not truly inclined to break. "Have you ever done such a thing?"
