& | Update (plus lol worthy icons)
Yes Yes Yes. Rub your eyes, do double takes ... get it all out! I'm back. Now, this is the point where I'd like to be all "TADA!" and have jazz hands and have a post of 100+ icons making my big enterance, but no. Not happening, sorry. For the most part this is just going to be a update post updating you on a few things. I'll do bullets, as to make this more organized.
» ORDINARY_DREAM IS NOW EVERYLINE. Yes, I changed my name. I didn't connect the two names, so anything credited to ordinary_dream will look like this: ordinary_dream. I realize I can't reachout to every single person who ever took an icon of mine and have them change it, but as long as the majority of them change it I'll be happy. Here are a few ways to now credit me for my icons. Feel free to pick whichever you'd like! Thanks! You will also see an iconversion of that little thing at each post, hopefully it'll aide as a visual example for the newbies who don't know how to credit icon makers.
» LIKEDEJAVU NOW HAS 300+ MEMBERS! How this has happened in my absence of 2+ month's I really couldn't tell you. I'm not complaining, I'm just shocked. I think it's two-fold though, for one reason I know icon tutorial posts are making their way around circuts again, and I'm getting a lot of comments on old tutorials, so that probably has to do with it. And also with a reason I'll mention in the next bullet point. However it did happen though, I'm extremely excited and grateful. Thank you to everyone who joined, anyone who ever pimped and then some. I'm trying to work on something special for you guys, I just haven't decided what yet. But it'll be something good I hope. I'll keep you posted.
» YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST! So apparently creamhugs had a LJ Icon Awards while I was away, and one of their topics were "Best Icon Tutorials". I actually tied for first place with two other icon makers who coincidently I use their tutorials as if they were crack. You can see the spiffy banner they made on the main page in the sidebar. The other two makers were xg3n and _chokeanddie. Thank you to anyone who voted! I appreciate it!
» THIS IS REALLY ALL I HAVE. Sorry. Three bullets just seemed kinda lame. Anyway, I guess I'll just use this to tie-up loose ends. I still have some saved requests that I can/need to work on. And overall I've just been collecting pictures that I've been meaning to icon. My icon-mojo isn't 100% back, but it's getting there. I did realize that the only way I was going to get it back was if I started forcing myself to open PSP. So I've been doing that, mostly entering a few challenges. Then I came up with the idea (from a meme of course) that you'll see below.
So I'm sure a lot of people saw/participated in the icon meme floating around where icon makers posted four of their icons from the past and them four recent ones. That triggered a memory about an icon meme that was along the same lines, except you had to recreate the first ones. So that's what I did. I took 7 fandoms that I've iconned the most, and set this up.
I chose one out of my first five icons from a fandom, and recreated it. You'll also see a link to the original picture, as well as stats about said fandom. Enjoy! And don't make too much fun about the early-days of Xenia and PSP. Feel free to snag any (except for the early ones, those are prohibited from being saved!!) just remember to credit!.

Additional Comments/Facts: friendsicontest was the first place ever I participated in an icon challenge at. This fandom is also the first fandom I ever posted icons for publicly. I remember being so proud of them at the time, and so flattered that I was getting comments and people were actually using them! I'll be honest, the 'after' icon I'm not that thrilled with. As much as I adore M/C I haven't iconned them in a long while, and this icon took a long time to make and still wasn't thrilled with it. Oh also! This was around the time I also found out what "OTP" stood for, I always thought it stood for "Oh The Perfection!" or something equally as dumb.

Additional Comments/Facts: I believe this is the only fandom I've iconned from the first time I joined the iconning world to presently. I've gone through so many styles it's not even funny. A big thanks to that is the challenge charmed_test (which I now own/mod). I've always believed icon challenges are a great way to experiment with things. Some of them have paid off and I placed and some of them didn't pay off and I quickly learned to skim past a certain coloring. I don't plan getting tired of this fandom anytime soon.

And that is all. I would have done other fandoms like Dawson's Creek, I Love Lucy, etc, but some of them didn't have that many icons, or some of them I didn't icon until much later so they weren't as fugly as some of these. Entertaining stuff huh?
A couple of other things I've learned in my iconmaking days.
» PS is not > than PSP.
» PSP not having Selective Coloring is not the end of the world.
» Text isn't really that scary.
» Still given the choice, I'd rather have a textless icon.
» Greyscale will always be FTW!
» Experimenting is key.
» Using other people's tutorials as inspiration and customizing it to make another coloring is not cheating.
» Using tiny text brushes does not make you lazy.
» Scripts are handy.
» Icon making can still be fun if you go into it with the intent of making graphics you as the maker like, not only making things for other people to like.
So I hope you guys enjoyed that! It was fun on my end and I think it gave me the push I needed to try and make an update. I hope to update the community not just with icons but with a facelife in the next week or so. Here's hoping anyway.
