SKINS SEASON 3 PREMIERE.
First of all I just want to ramble a bit about my feelings on the whole new cast idea, because I don't think I ever really talked about that except maybe in a couple of comments here and there. I was really upset at first, but after a while I kind of accepted it and now I don't really see why people are rejecting the season so early. I mean, I miss the old cast like crazy and I wish we'd been able to see more of them, but I'm excited about the new cast too and I think it's just kind of silly to make judgements on the season without even watching a couple of episodes. Some people have said they won't even be watching and that just makes no sense to me. When you first started watching Season 1, you didn't know any of the characters, and you grew to love them. So this is what's happening here, except it's in a show which has a format and style that you already enjoy. That's how I feel, anyway.
Plus there's Effy, who has my UNDYING LOVE, so of course even if the season is awful I'll keep watching it for her. ♥
First of all, Effy is as awesome as ever. I sort of forgot how much I love her until she wiped the ketchup off Cook's face and licked her finger. Idek why that was so awesome but it was. Also, I love how she doesn't seem to care HOW much skin she shows, and the way she just sort of takes everything in. I especially loved how she looked at the twins and sort of went "Oh..." and how she got how Emily felt, right away.
Out of the new characters, I think I like JJ and Emily best. And Naomi. I think JJ's just adorable. I kind of like both of the twins, like, obviously Katie's character's not NICE but I think she'll be interesting. Emily is just so sweet. And they're both gorgeous. Naomi's dress sense is ridiculous but yeah, I think she's really cool, I like how she stood up to Cook, and said the thing about the strap-on to Katie, that was hilarious. I like her voice too, and the twins'.
Cook's just a twat basically and I know that's kind of the point, but I don't like him. EFFY, YOU HAVE NO STANDARDS. I thought it was kind of cool how he pretended to have been hit by the car, though, haha. And Freddie? I don't get why everyone's fawning over him, I don't see it. Yeah, he's attractive, but in such a boring way. I just find him really dull and I don't want Effy to end up with him even though I just KNOW they'll go down that route, ugh. BORING.
I'm not sure how I feel about Pandora yet. She's funny, I found her really funny in the one episode last season, but I feel like she might get kind of grating. :/
I love the idea of Effy giving the guys the checklist, and I'm glad they explained that as something she was going to try and fill in herself, because if it'd just been some kind of application form she was handing out it would've seemed pretty OOC.
I love the mentions of the old characters because I would hate it if they acted like they never existed. I hope Tony is mentioned a lot more because the STONEMCEST MUST LIVE. :(
I can't really remember if there was anything else specific I wanted to say. I just think this series is going to be good. I was kind of worried, I guess, but idk, I have faith in it, because I've always liked the basic structure of the show (even in Season 2 when a lot of people gave up on it) and the characters in general don't seem too cliché or too boring yet. We'll have to wait and see about the storylines I suppose, but so far I'm liking it. :D
Also this has nothing to do with Skins, but if you read Jonas Brothers fic, do yourself a favour and read this. It's called 'The Brothers Who Were Turned Into Birds', by annakovsky and it's Joe/Nick and it's rated R. It's actually probably one of the best fics I've ever read, I wasn't sure about it at first but it just sort of kicks off and sucks you in and it's just that sort of delicious, painful angst that makes you hurt and want more at the same time. The writing's absolutely amazing, too. It's just. Nnngh. Read it.
