On writing RPS...

I think I've worked out what the problem with writing RPS is. Or at least, the problem I have.

It's that I always try really hard to get my facts straight. And that't relatively easy when you're writing in a fiction fandom, because you can go check out the book/show/film to make sure of something. The canon is all quite neatly compressed.

But when it's RPS, the canon (lol, it seems weird calling it canon, it's more like, real life) is ALL OVER THE PLACE. It's like, bits of it are mentioned in interviews, bits of it are just things that everyone knows, and bits of it are things that you feel might be true, but can't find any proof for, and you only think you might've read it in some article once.

It's nowhere near as easy to check your facts. There are a few things you can do, like check the person's Wiki page or whatever, but that's only if you need to know a very basic thing, like where they were born or how old they are or what year it was when they went on some TV show. If it's recent news, that they might have just happened to mention in an interview...things can get quite difficult.

Maybe I just stress out about it too much and I don't actually NEED to have everything correct. After all, it's still fanfiction. But for some reason it bothers me if I think something's wrong.

For instance, at the moment, I'm thinking about two RPS fics that I want to write, and I keep getting held up by little details. Like, did Chris Corner and Noel Fielding BOTH go on tour with Robots In Disguise ever? And if so, when was it? And I know that the Robots used to DJ in London, and so did Noel, but do they still? Sue and Chris live in Berlin now, so when did they move? Etc etc etc.

And there isn't really a way of me finding out. I guess I just don't want someone to read it and be brought out of the story because they're going "But that never happened! There was never a time when the four of them were DJing in London, therefore, this story never could have happened, and now I can't properly imagine it, and it is ruined for me!" I just like people to be able to imagine that something really could have happened.

Maybe I should just stop worrying about it. :/
