NON-SPOILERY RAMBLINGS ON "NEARLY FAMOUS".
NEARLY FAMOUS, THURSDAYS AT 11PM ON E4.
British people on my flist? WATCH IT, SERIOUSLY. It's sort of like Skins, but also sort of not. It's about four 'misfit' new students at a performing arts school, and they are all awesome. There is funky blurry camera work and clever shots with lights and shadows. There are exciting storylines. There is good music. There are pretty people. (Very pretty people.)
There's Lila. She's gorgeous in an interesting way. She's sort of like Cassie, but not as crazy. She's got big black hair and quite far-apart eyes and awesome clothes. She has a bracelet made of Rubik's Cube pieces! She has a mother with some mental illness. (Her Mum is played by Jane from Coupling, which is a little weird and makes it hard to see her in a serious way.) She wants to be a writer, but her Mum is holding her back from following her dreams.
There's Owen. He's reeeally pretty, but then, I have a habit of automatically falling for anyone who has dark hair and light eyes. :/ He's got a pretty bad anger problem and also money issues. He's sarcastic and sharp-tongued but underneath it all, he's a really sweet guy. He wants to be a musician.
There's Kate. She's gorgeous in maybe a more obvious way? Absolutely striking, seriously. She has lots of hair but keeps tying/covering it up in weird ways. Her Dad is a famous director but she doesn't want anyone to know, because she wants to be an actress and doesn't want people always associating her with him. She has even more awesome clothes than Lila, I think, and she talks in a really cool way. She did have sex with some awful chavvy guy just because she was upset, though, which lowers my respect for her somewhat.
And there's Joe, who I think is kind of dull so far. He's pretty, but not as pretty as the other three, and he's kind of painfully geeky. He has bad music taste and also bad social skills, and gets teased a lot for no good reason. (Well, probably the reasons I mentioned, but still! People've been really horrible!) He's into like, lighting and all that boring stuff.
I love it. God, I love it. I wanted there to be another episode right away. Everyone should watch it. I even want to write fic already! I don't even know what kind, I could pair them all with each other! I think they might be going down the Lila/Owen route, which is okay. Owen is adorably protective and sweet to Joe even though really, he doesn't have to be. And Lila/Kate would be awesome.
