UM. SKINS.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT SKINS, PLEASE.

DID EFFY'S THERAPIST SERIOUSLY JUST BEAT FREDDIE TO DEATH WITH A BASEBALL BAT. DID HE. BECAUSE THAT'S JUST...I DON'T EVEN KNOW.

*tries to collect thoughts*

See, I knew there was going to be something weird about that guy. He went from 'nice' to 'creepy' within about five minutes, and when he started basically ERASING EFFY'S MEMORY, I knew some shit was going to go down. But I thought he was like, going to take advantage of her in her vulnerable state, or something. NOT MURDER HER BOYFRIEND.

We all know I don't like Freddie, okay, so at first (I mean, once the initial shock subsided) I didn't care that much, and then the previews for next week started, and it all sort of hit me. Effy and Cook are the two people who care about him the most, and I LIKE BOTH OF THEM A WHOLE LOT. And Effy's going to keep seeing the psycho therapist! I DON'T KNOW IF I'M GOING TO BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH THIS.

I still don't know how I feel about it. On the one hand, I'm really angry, because it feels like such a cheap device (or, as my Dad hilariously and unintentionally put it, a 'blunt instrument'). They don't need to fucking kill off a character every generation just to get some more drama in. Skins is not a soap opera. They do just fine without over-the-top plots like this. I'm so rarely disappointed by the writing of this show, seriously. The last time I remember being this frustrated was by the finale of S1, because Tony getting hit by the bus just seemed so stupidly random, like they threw it in at the last moment because they needed a cliffhanger. But, that ended up making S2 really interesting, so I forgive the writers for that.

Which means that I don't want to freak out too much in case this ends up being a good idea, somehow. But I just...augh. It's so completely insane. And even though I don't like his character, I like the characters that do like him. I like Effy when she's fucked up, but the effect this has on her might just be too much, if that makes sense. And I can't even think about what this means for Cook/Freddie, okay. ;_;

Sigh. Other than all that insanity, I really did like the episode. I'm so, so thrilled that Tony was mentioned. He seemed so significant, in the therapy sessions. The fact that it took Effy so long to mention the bus crash, and the way she talked about him. ♥ And oh god, the way she was freaking out when they were on that street. And yelling 'my brother'. I just. It's so good, but at the same time it was so frustrating to have all of that happen and not have him show up, you know? Gah.

And you know the toy giraffe, Pato? (Which, btw, why would you call a toy giraffe Pato? Isn't pato Spanish for duck?) I feel like that had some connection with Tony, too. That might just be crazy, but the way she was freaking out when she couldn't find him, and then when they did find him, she held him so close. Also: OOC plaid shirt = Tony's, Y/Y??

OTHER THINGS I ENJOYED. UM. Kaya Scodelario's beauty?? For real though, she is so ridiculously gorgeous. From a shallow point of view, I just really enjoy close-up shots of her face. /creeper

Everything from the scene in the park to the scene at Freddie's...I think that was my favourite. I love how you couldn't tell if Effy was pretending or not, when it came to Cook. Like, Cook said something earlier about having the chance to do it all over again etc, so it seemed like she was just playing along...but then, it also seemed like she had a psycho therapist who was wiping her memories. And ohhh goddd the scene at Freddie's. COOK SAID FREDDIE BROKE HIS HEART. And he asked if the three of them were just going to keep screwing each other, or what. And. I don't even care, you guys, it's all totally canon for me and it huuurts.

I also liked the scene at the pub and Effy's speech about grades not mattering (not that my AS grades are due soon or anything) and everybody still cheering when Thomas said he got expelled.

Edit: MAYBE HE ISN'T ACTUALLY DEAD? But I mean...I read that Luke Pasqualino isn't on the cast list for the finale and I don't understand how they could wrap all of this up happily in just one episode and and...GOD DAMMIT, SKINS.

You guys, my brain feels like it's been scrambled. Sometimes I just love Skins and HATE IT SO MUCH AT THE SAME TIME. ;_;
