Lara's okay and everything, but I feel like I'd be far more enthusiastic about JJ being with somebody who's as awkward and messed-up as he is. And I'm not just saying that because we'd pretty much be perfect together. (In a seriously unhealthy and uncomfortable way, but whatever. HEY JJ. Where other girls give you strange looks and contemplate their escape routes, I swoon! ...Oh, how I wish I were exaggerating.)
Anyway, DOES JJ/CASSIE APPEAL TO ANYONE? Because it really does to me right now for some reason. Basically, a relationship with someone mentally healthy is probably better for him in the long run, but a relationship with someone mentally ill would be more interesting to watch. And I'd be more likely to ship it. I get that they're putting JJ with someone who's ~different~ and not just your average teenage girl, but it still doesn't quite fit right.
Every time Cook was on screen tonight I cracked up. I don't even know why. His presence was just such light relief in an episode of INTENSE AWKWARDNESS. Even when they were in the bathroom and he was all ~o hai here's my junk in your face~ it was still a million times less awkward than every other scene. Also: JJ/Cook. I totally ship it and I totally forgot that I did until that scene right there. And that hug. HUG!
I love JJ, so I have no real complaints about this episode, but I do think it seemed a little TOO separate from all the other characters' storylines. My Dad watched with me, and he hasn't watched since like...early S3 or something, and the only thing I had to say to make sure he knew what was going on was "Oh, Naomi cheated on Emily, that's why they're being so weird." I like it when the episodes are interconnected more?
DID I MENTION THE INTENSE AWKWARDNESS. I usually like awkwardness in Skins, and actually thought at one point that JJ's sex scenes should be more awkward because that would be a) more realistic and b) just more fun for some reason. But GOOD GOD, THIS EPISODE. It felt like every time there was a scene change, I was cringing into my cushion just dreading what was going to happen next. That's okay though, I feel like that was done on purpose.
Um. I think that's actually all I have to say! The next episode looks fun, I'm glad Effy is out of hospital and still being crazy. Apparently I have issues with character development or something, because I never want her to stop being crazy. MENTIONS OF TONY NEXT WEEK PLZ.
