I had almost forgotten to say it [ because she's been holed up in the library or her room ] but I am glad that everyone is back to their usual selves, and I hope that no lasting damage has occured to anyone.
Personally, I was unaffected this time, [ perhaps because she wasn't human to begin with. The thought makes a dark look cross her face ] but

[He saw that look. He doesn't exactly know what it means but he has an idea. He's dumb, not retarded.]

I thought if I am to punch something this would be more suitable than a dress.

You look hot.
[Okay so he'd make the jeans tighter and the shirt lower cut before he'd actually call it hot but it's a huge step for her and he's trying to let her know he appreciates it.]
Come here. [He beckons to her. He's got a pair of fingerless gloves for punching the bag that he thinks will be just her size and will keep her from scraping her knuckles up.]

She takes a small step closer, and then another one, mentally berating herself. She chose to wear this attire, she should be able to deal with it now. ]

This will keep you from messin' up your hands.
[He's got some tape across his knuckles. he's used to jerking tape off his skin.] Okay, when you hit it, you're gonna hold your fist like this, thumb out and kinda loose.
[He demonstrates by showing her his fist.]

Am I very likely to mess up my hands, then? [ She copies the way he holds his hand. ] Like this?

Yeah. Alright now keep your wrist straight. [He reaches out to touch her wrist lightly, making an adjustment.] And you're gonna punch with this flat part of your hand, not on top of the knuckles. [He places his fingers over the flat part of her fist he wants her to hit with.]

Tessa is unlikely to get used to being touched so freely, even though these touches now are more professional than anything else. ]

Alright. [He steps back.] Try hittin' the bag. [He nods to the canvas punching bag hanging there.]

[ And she does, though self-consciously and almost timidly at first, hitting the bag- not very hard, but at least she hit it. ]

Come on. I've seen you smack a golf ball. You can hit it harder than that.

I was imagining Mortmain then. [ It's said with some hesitation. Tessa is more likely to bottle things up inside than to give voice to her anger, though if pushed too far she will explode. Thinking of Mortmain makes her want to draw back into herself at first, but-- she gets what Tim is trying to do, and it might just help. So she hits the bag again, considerably harder this time.
It makes her wince a little and feel self-conscious after, but also better somewhat, so she does it again. ]

[Her efforts get a chuckle and a grin out of him. He holds the bag steady though.]
Okay this time take a step back from the bag. When you hit it, step into the punch. You don't weigh much so you wanna really put your whole body into it.

[ So much anger about that. Anger is less painful than fear and sadness somehow. She does exactly as he tells her. The first time she tries, her steps aren't the same size which brings her too close to the bag to properly hit it. ]
He had me kidnapped and trained. [ There are no other words for that. She tries again, doing somewhat better this time. ]

[At the second punch he praises her.]
Damn good job. Now concentrate on hittin' a particular spot. On a person it's gonna be their nose. Noses break easy.
