I am going to make the rest of this short and will elaborate on anything that is later said to be unclear. In the same order as they appeared in your comment:

"I would go to Sunday School and find me disagreeing with everything I was being taught"
: This is where you ask the teacher or preacher. At Southside, my church, we are taught to question everything that we are told in sermons based on our own Biblical readings. At the same time, we have to understand that our disagreement may be based on a miscomprehension of what the teacher or preacher is wanting to say. Maybe they said the right thing the wrong way, an accident in the world of grammar or acronym..ology.

"I would hate myself for failing to live up what I thought God wanted of me, and frequently considered suicide"
: It sucks that you went through this and I hate that you felt that way, but there is nothing to say that you should feel guilty at failing. The teachings are that God is forgiving (seven times did Israel fail in their commandments not to worship Canaanite gods, and though they were judged through conquest, each and every time God rose a judge to deliver them from the military oppression from neighbouring countries. And what did Jesus come here to do? Sure he might have yelled a lot, but essentially he was here in forgiveness for our sins.) That said, I sympathize with this season of your life. But this is not an argument against God or the Christian faith.
