[The recording shows a static shot of Renji's quarters at the Sixth Squad's barracks, and the picture quality is grainy, like a webcam feed. The room is deserted. An unmade futon lies in the middle of the floor, as though the owner was in too much of a hurry to put it away when they left. Something about the room gives the impression that no one has been there in a while.
There's a faint but distinct scratching sound from the other side of the sliding door, followed by a low whine. The scratching resumes again, until a voice speaks outside the room.]
...Daisy? What is it, boy? [More whining.] You want me to let you in again?
[A sharp bark.]
Okay, but I'm warning you - Abarai-fukutaichou's not in there. He and the Captain and the others haven't returned yet.
[Following this exchange, the sliding door opens just far enough to let Daisy slip inside, and there's the sound of retreating footsteps in the hallway. Daisy does a quick circuit of the room, sniffing everything thoroughly, before curling up on Renji's futon with his head on his paws, looking dejected.
Not long after the young dog settles down, footsteps can be heard approaching. These are different from the footsteps earlier. They're heavier, more purposeful. Daisy raises his head at the sound, instantly alert. He watches the door intently as the footfalls draw closer.
When the door slides open to reveal none other than Renji standing there, Daisy springs to his feet and rushes across the room, tripping over his own paws in his hurry. Renji looks tired and distracted, but he still cracks a smile when Daisy jumps on him, tail wagging madly. Kneeling down, he ruffles Daisy's ears fondly as the young dog whines and tries to lick his face. His voice is exasperated, but his expression is affectionate.]
Yeah, yeah. I missed you too, stupid mutt.
[The feed ends.]
