"Prediction" = what I think the academy will pick

** I am not, by any means, a Scorcese fan..honestly. But he has never won an academy award and this movie has "oscar" written all over it. Not to mention that it was pretty good, not amazing, but pretty darn good.
BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE>

preference: LEONARDO DICAPIRO or JOHNNY DEPP
** Ok, I have been watching the oscars since I was at least 4 or 5...I know how the voting works and what type of people are on the academy. But for the love of God, someone please give Leonardo an oscar! He is an amazing actor, fuck anyone who disagrees with me. He was really good in Aviator as well, it may not have been that hard of a part to pull off..I mean Howard Hughes is not that complex of an individual but he was good none the less. On that same note, Johnny Depp is another amazing actor who has yet to be recognized for his talent and I think Finding Neverland is his best performance yet. It just really sucks that they both have to be up against Jaime Foxx who has never done anything even remotely Oscar worthy until now, which I find to be ridiculous -no matter how good of a performance he did in Ray. If Ray Charles hadn't died this year, I bet this wouldnt have been such a big god damn deal.

** I thought Morgan Freeman was good in Million Dollar Baby but I think Thomas Hayden Church really really suprised everyone which is always nice to see. As good as he is, it seems like Freeman plays the same guy in every movie. And if they gave awards for that then Keanu Reeves should have like 35 oscars by now ;)

** Hilary Swank is just flat out, a really talented actress.However, Catalina Sandino Moreno was just as good as Swank and she is a newcomer. Not to mention how good Maria Full of Grace was.

** I agree that Blanchett did not play that great of a Katherine Hepburn, but she is honestly the best on the list of nominees. I didn't see Hotel Rwanda though. Virgina Madsen was definetly good, but I really don't think oscar worthy good.

** I would say Scorcese but I think they are gonna give him the Best Picture nod, and then they gotta give one to Clint Eastwood. It could be the other way around, but I think this is how it's gonna go. Once again, I don't like Scorcese so I wouldn't pick him. Payne is a phenomenal director and I thought Sideways was directed retardedly well

** Basically, Colleen Atwood is an amazing costime designer. She's done almost all of Burton's film & Snicket's was nothing to sneeze at. Really well done, but she won two years ago for Chicago and I think the academy wants to give a lot to Aviator this year. Plus, the costumes were really good in Aviator too, I just think Snicket's were better.

And thats just unfair, its a makeup category not..."oh this movie was about Jesus, therefore we HAVE to give it at least one oscar" category...not to mention I don't think Jesus would be too happy with his oscar nod being for makeup...psh

** Truthfully, this category makes me the most upset...becaues John Williams is going to win simply because he's John Williams and he always wins. When the score for The Village was so hauntingly beautiful and I have listened to the score for Harry Potter. It is SO MUCH BETTER! ....bah

It sucks because the movies that really need and should win or be nominated never are ! Not that Million Dollar Baby or The Aviator don't deserve to win, but "old" Hollywood and things like that always overshadow other movies. I mean, ok, it isn't always like (ex. Sixth Sense or American Beauty) that but for the most part it is. Sometimes I just feel like the academy is just way to outdated, but whatever..it's just rich and famous people giving other rich & famous people awards.
