Maybe you can help solve a mystery...
Sometimes, I don't understand my brain. I can't watch horror films, or anything even remotely scary-like. Its even so bad that parts of LotR bother me and the Reaver bits of Firefly/Serenity make me hide behind a pillow. For example, the Bushwacked episode of Firefly? I've watched it exactly once and never, ever again if I have any say in the matter. *shudders* I've seen one episode of CSI, and no thank you.
And yet... I watch Court TV shows like Forensic Files and Extreme Evidence like a freak. When I can, I watch two hours of Unsolved Mysteries on Lifetime Mon-Fri and I can't get enough of that show.
WTF? The films and TV shows are FAKE, and yet they scare the crap out of me. Unsolved Mysteries and Forensic Files are decidedly REAL, and yet they fascinate me and rarely creep me out. Maybe its because the "real" shows tell the story as an after the fact, are not so visually violent and gory? The suspense isn't so accute? I have no idea.
