Cowardly Acts (Part 1/4) by wistful_fever- Ryan/Seth (NC-17)
This is the very first fic I've liked enough to rec in The OC fandom, and not only do I like it, I love it. I want to have its, as Seth would say, alcoholic gambling-addicted babies.
That link is part 1 of 4, which was posted on 9/19 and as much as I usually hate to read, let alone rec WIPs, this one is absolutely worth any wait we might be in for to get to the next parts (though it shouldn't be much, she claims 2 will be posted next week). Also, its future fic, but its not exactly AU, other than in the sense that they are older (20) and in college together. She has a rating of NC-17, but the first part is maybe PG-13 for language at best, so the rating must refer to future parts.
Now before you run away screaming, I must suggest that if you have ever even entertained the idea of Ryan/Seth, I highly recommend this one, because her voices are so spot-on. She's captured Seth's manic internal randomness and even reads Ryan's body language perfectly. Every little detail is completely in tune to how the boys might be in 3 or 4 years. I love this part, and I am so excited as to where this fic is headed.
I know that this will probably be lost on, like 98% of you, but to the 4 people that read my lj and like The OC... read this? You'll love it, I promise.
