Day 13: Favorite Bartlet that isn't the President

This one is pretty easy. :) While all the Bartlets have their moments, Ellie is my favorite by far. Liz is bizarrely unpleasant, I like the actress playing Zoey more than I like her character, Abbey can be really cold, and the President's dad, though awesomely played by Lawrence O'Donnell, is cruel.

Ellie is the Bartlet with a social anxiety disorder, hiding behind her hair and escaping to her lab where she can work with diseases and avoid the spotlight. She's surrounded by confident, strong family members who shine in the public eye and want nothing more than to do big important work. She wants to make a real difference in her quiet way, behind the scenes where often the better work gets done. And yet, she stands up for what's right even when it means doing the thing that scares her most. She's afraid of her blustery father and doesn't relate to the life her mother lives...so yeah, I adore her out of all the Bartlets.

She gets extra points for being the child her parents secretly suspected was gay until she marries a big geek of a guy who also has social anxiety and wants nothing to do with her family's political dynasty. Plus, the actress who plays Ellie is just fantastic, from this to CSI. :)

And...an icon! :)

Thanks for reading. :)
