who can work now at a time like this?

I am starting to be the recipient of "looks" for my persistent 10 o'clock morning arrivals, mostly from secretaries as the attorneys are all in their offices and don't care/notice anything else. I telepathically respond: I work until 7 so leave me alone! oops, someone called at 9:30 wanting me to meet right then. now i have to meet at 2 instead and miss the first panel of the south asian lawyers conference. i don't think that counts as comeuppance, though.

30 seconds after I arrive the FIRE ALARM goes off. half the office doesn't know where the stairs are, but after mild confusion passed I was so loving it, fire drills are always fun times and i mingled with softball buddies on the second floor as we waited outside for building to collapse. alas, it stood there defiantly stable and smoke free, taunting me with its whiny wooop woooop until it was finally silenced. I then joined the current of people being carried back to their desks resentfully...and decided to write about this moment for posterity. posterity, i hope you're happy!
