Isabel had gotten the message and early in the afternoon, she wandered down the stairs to knock on the door.

"It's open," Greg called, carefully sliding test tubes into their respective holders.

Taking a breath, she opened the door and stepped into the room. "Hi."

Greg looked up. "Hey."

"So you're leaving?" Isabel asked, still hovering by the door.

"Yep," he said, nodding. "Tomorrow."

"I see," she nodded, then handed over the envelope she'd had tucked in her back pocket. "I'm not sure if you'd want these. They're of Josh."

Greg took the envelope with a tiny smile. "Thanks. I didn't know you had them."

"He was too cute not to take pictures of," Isabel smiled. "I only just got them developed last week, and things have been a little crazed. I'm sorry I didn't bring them by earlier."

"It's okay," he said, setting the envelope on top of a shoebox. "I wish I didn't have to go."

"I wish you didn't have to either," she admitted with an odd feeling a deja vu.

He offered her a small, wistful smile. "Weird, isn't it?"

[izzyalienqueen]

"Big time," Isabel replied, matching his smile with one of her own. "But you'll be home. With your family. That's good."

He nodded. "And I can handwave call. It's not like I'm in another dimension."

[izzyalienqueen]

"Good. I'd like that," she said. "I'll be here for most of the summer. So I'll be easy enough to find."

"You should blow up Meerkat," he suggested mildly.
