Junhyung was the typical popular kid. He’s rich, he’s fucking handsome, he’s strong, he has girl lining up and fighting over him. He’s the exact opposite of his best friend, Hyunseung
Hyunseung was the typical nerd. He’s sickly, he wears glasses, he’s shy, he’s smart, he’s a techno-geek and he was always teased at. But to Junhyung, Jang Hyunseung is perfect.
And even though girls would fight with each other just to get Junhyung’s attention, it would always end up in vain, because Junhyung’s attention would always be on Hyunseung, only in Hyunseung. He’d protect Hyunseung, he’d help Hyunseung, he’d do anything for Hyunseung and he’s in love with Hyunseung.

Hyunseung has always been close to Junhyung, ever since Junhyung saved the older boy from being bullied when they were still in grade school. And because of Junhyung, Hyunseung finally found someone he could trust.
Hyunseung always finds comfort in Junhyung, always finds protection, always finds warmth, and always finds something when he has nothing.
But lately, Hyunseung noticed that he sometimes feels butterflies in his stomach when he’s with Junhyung. He blushes, gushes, flushes every time he thinks of Junhyung. His heart would pound so hard that he could barely breathe every time Junhyung smiles at him. Hyunseung knows that he needs Junhyung, but loving the younger boy is another thing.

They are in love, no doubt about that.
But there is always something in between.

Hyunseung know that Junhyung has tons of girls chasing after him, so why should the younger boy choose Hyunseung?
Junhyung knows that Hyunseung only sees him as a protector, a bodyguard. So why should he even try?
So they both hid their feelings for each other, trying to avoid each other without making it too awkward.
“I’m going to the gym.”
“I’m going out with Yoseob.”
Because they’re scared. Because it’s fucking scary.
Every word feels like a shooting star.
Hyunseung started going to the gym, so that he’d get stronger, so that he wouldn’t need Junhyung that much, so that his mind wouldn’t be occupied with thoughts of Junhyung. Because it hurts, it really hurts.
Junhyung started going out with Yoseob, just because Yoseob is different from Hyunseung, Yoseob’s not Hyunseung. And Junhyung thought that maybe going out with Yoseob would make him forget about Hyunseung. Because it’s hard, it’s really hard.
It’s really hard and it really hurts loving someone who won’t love you back.
I’m at the edge of my emotions.
It went well for a few weeks.
Hyunseung got strong.
Junhyung was happy.
And I’m in love.
But it didn’t feel right, they realized it wasn’t right.
Because they were scared again.
Junhyung got scared because Hyunseung got stronger. What if Hyunseung wouldn’t need Junhyung anymore? What if he’d leave Junhyung?
Hyunseung got scared because Junhyung is happy. What if Junhyung falls in love with Yoseob? What if he’d leave Hyunseung?
And I’m terrified.
So they ran.
Junhyung ran, muttering,” I’m sorry Yoseob, but I’m in love with someone else,” to his date.
Hyunseung ran, leaving the gym while saying,” I won’t be back because I don’t need this,” to his gym mates.
And they ran, to a place where they’d find love.
Hyunseung sat down under the shade of a tree, his breath uneven, and his heart pounding hard. This was the place where Junhyung first saved him from his bullies.
He instantly wrapped his arms around his knees and buried his face, a bitter smile on his face as tears fell down.
His tears turned into soft sobs when he felt someone hug him, already knowing who it was, he looked up and saw Junhyung smiling tenderly at him
“I thought I’ve lost you.”
“I thought you’d leave me.”
They both chuckled.
“Never.”
Junhyung wiped the tears on Hyunseung’s face. Hyunseung smiled at him.
“I was so scared.”
“You don’t have to.”
They laughed, they hugged, and they kissed.
Hyunseung is stronger.
Junhyung is happier.
And it finally felt right. It is right.
“I love you.”
And they weren’t scared anymore.
