They Lost the Plot ...Stupid Plot Losers.

I have been on the fence about some of my shows lately. My weekly line up includes:

SUNDAY: Downton Abbey
I'm not really upset by the turn of events on this show, I'm just nervous about where some of the characters are heading, if the latest episode and the previews are any indication. Robert seems a little too friendly with the new war-widow maid, the Bates storyline is getting tiring, Thomas is back to his old tricks, and the couples are all at a crossroads.

Like the rest of the family, I mistrusted the Canadian phantom of the opera dude, despite Edith's heartbroken protests. I loved all of the Matthew/Mary moments. They seem more suited to one another than Matthew/Lavinia, but I could go either way, because it coincidentally reminds me of Edward Ferrars, who is played by Dan Stevens in the most recent BBC Sense and Sensibility miniseries. As Eleanor Dashwood said, "I wouldn't think so highly of you if you had acted differently." That is, I would love Matthew/Mary together, but I wouldn't like Matthew quite so well if he dumped Lavinia at this point. I actually really like Mary's line from the 2x07 trailer, "Aren't all of us stuck with the choices we make?" Which applies to so many people on this show.

Sadly, and perhaps unfortunately, I've been spoiled for some MAJOR developments in episode seven thanks to a spoiler post showing up in my mailbox. I really can't resist temptation.

MONDAY: Castle
The last few episodes have been par for the course, but I'm still hung up on the season premier. It went to a very dark place character-wise. Too dark. It tainted the series for me, and I'm not sure I'll ever recover from that.

TUESDAY: Ringer
This show is constantly intriguing, but never really satisfying. I missed last week, which was supposed to deal with Gemma's possible murder. I'm getting slightly tired of being led around by the nose through a maze of secrets and lies. The intrigue isn't enough to make me a dedicated fan of the show.

THURSDAY: The Vampire Diaries
From villain Katherine, to super-villain Elijah, to super-duper-villain Klaus, now there's suddenly an even bigger vamp in the coffin? This show has serious Drama Villain issues, which are compounded by the fact that every time the show threatens a Mystic Falls teenage apocalypse, there's some ex deus machina *magic!* and suddenly our main characters are fine and dandy, if a little broody and schizophrenic. I started last week's episode, got as far as the Tyler-being-excited-to-be-a-hybrid moment, and decided I couldn't take it anymore. They threw a wrench at my cute little vampire/werewolf couple! *pout* It's like Matt/Caroline all over again. I loved Matt/Caroline. Then they made Caroline a vampire and broke them up. Then they got back together for all of 5 minutes before they almost killed him and then broke them up again. They ruin everything because they can never leave well enough alone. No one is allowed to be happy. I swear, this show should be called Happily Never After: Where Couples Come To Die.

SATURDAY: Merlin
I've already ranted about last week's episode, so I'll say no more. The previews look promising, and Merlin usually has one or two rotten episodes per season, so I'm not really concerned.
